Hello Folks,
We'll start the thread with a couple of old relics I spoted just east of West Colton yard at the GATX repair facility:

Donnell Nice Ace units. I like UP and tend to model the UP most. The 2010 leads a train into Roseville recently. Larry The 7400 on a stack westbound at Rocklin. And one of the Heritage units, the 1989.

This is the way to start a dreary Thursday. Thanks for the bright cheerful pictures. Is your weather cloudy today? I would have a hard time not seeing trains anytime that I decided I wanted to watch a train. Nice to hear they are being looked at. This is the 156 eastbound yesterday at my town, Rocklin, CA. Larry And one more for the road!!! This is the 1983 on a special train to Dunsmuir days.

Larry, that UP #7400 is HOT! I've always liked when UP painted the tops of the nose gray on theset units. I like that Challenger shot as well!

Donnell Donnell Thanks. That was the first trip west for the 7400. It has been back several times and we always enjoy seeing it. Larry This is the 3985 leaving Roseville after the visit with the rotaries in the background.

Nice pics Donnell and Larry. The large UP stuff looks nice, but I don't get to see much in the way of UP, here in Southeastern, NC I particularly like the 44 tonner? and the little switcher next to it. My contribution is a bit more begnign.... The very shortline, Clinton (NC) Terminal Railroad's CF-7 was the only thing I found moving on Mother's Day. It was taking 3 coil steel cars into town from the CSX interchange. Over in Warsaw, about 15 miles north of me, I found a dozen CSX locos sitting idle. I haven't seen that many locos in one place for quite a while. A set of 4, including an SD-40-2 on the south leg of the Wye A set of 2 on the north leg of the Wye Another set of 4, north of the Wye, on one of the Pigford Yard tracks And lastly, another set of 2, south of the Wye, on a storage track spur, off the main

We do not see those out here very often. What are those sets of locomotives usef for, helper power??? Larry

Great shots everyone! Taking things back west, this is Western Pacific caboose no. 467 on display at the Niles Depot in Fremont, CA. Went there on my honeymoon last year. It's amazing the wife put up with all of the train rides we took!

How about I combine these themes and offer some Union Pacific from North Carolina? Norfolk Southern 349 cruises into the setting sun just west of Clayton, NC on 4-30-2011. Attachments:

Nice combination of NC and the Union Pacific. The low light of the sunset looks great. From what I read, the UP locomotives show up in the east on a almost daily in some parts. Larry

Yes, UP power is rather common around here, especially on the Old Southern Main Line through Charlotte and Greensboro, NC. This is NS 204 in June of last year at Greensboro, NC. And here is a 204 from a few weeks a go, not a picture but in keeping with the UP theme.....

Can someone help, im trying to link from flickr to avoid doing an attatchment, because you can only attatch 1 item per post. What exactly do I need to put between in the img symbols? Here you go. I could see the problem after hitting reply. You must have selected "Share" and "Grab the link." That link, however, it to the webpage having the picture, not to the picture itself. What I did is go to "Actions," then "View all sizes," and then "Large 1024." When that picture appeared, I right clicked on it (I'm using Firefox), and selected "Copy Image Location." I pasted that between the img tags.

Thanks for the help with the photos.
That SD70M was a long way from home. I have no clue why it was set out. This is in front of the Amtrak station in Raleigh, NC, and the city skyline is in the background.

I really like the one with the Raleigh skyline in the background. The SD70M is framed nicely. Best, Peter

Anthony, in case you didn't know, Flickr lets you post/host up to a certain number of pics on their site, before it will delete the oldest pics if you put more than the limit you can have, without paying to upgrade your account. If photobucket has a limit, I haven't reached it, yet!! (As an aside, I see we have some old, familiar smilies.

I'm not sure what the limit is on Photobucket. Several years ago, we were offered an "unlimited" account for a small one time fee, which we accepted. I think the fee was under $20.00.

Flickr has a 200 pic limit, before they ask for $$$ an upgrade. ( I checked my pics/account today) If I posted #201, #1 would "disappear". Not bad mouthing 'em by any means, just wanted to Anthony and possibly others, know about it. I have about 43 "pages" of pics on photobucket and haven't yet been hit up for a fee, but if reasonable, I'd seriously consider it.
