It is official! I have FINALLY booked my 4 days at a hotel in Cleveland for the National Train Show. Adarius and I will be rolling into the city on Thursday night and staying until Monday morning. This will be my second National show attendance. I obviously went to the 2009 convention when it was in Hartford, CT (my home state). How many times have you attended the NMRA convention/train shows? This is going to be a daddy & son only trip and it will be fun! See you there!

Never been to a national, and haven't been a member of the NMRA for over twenty years. I'll be at the show Sunday, I'll look for ya, Al.

No one CAN miss me but anyone CAN avoid me. I am sure many guys will do that too, because they know who I am but I have no clue who most people are. Its all good though.

NMRA is just not my thing...had friends who were in it, but was never impressed by the magazine...never attended a show. No plans to do so.
I was a regular at Timonium for a number of years.

Went to my one and only in St. Louis in '01. When you live far from major population centers and work away from home, it's hard to make it to the majors.

Columbus '92, Madison '97, Cincinnati '05, Philadelphia '06, Detroit '07, Hartford '09, Milwaukee '10, Grand Rapids '12.
And Cleveland will make nine.
Philadelphia in '06 was the only year I didn't also attend the Convention. Toronto in '03, I attended the Convention, but I don't think it was really an NMRA Train Show, and I had other obligations at the end of the week, anyway.

Not yet, but looking forward to Indianapolis in 2017, is it? I think that's the year, whatever year it happens to be anyway. The layout will likely be open.

Never been. During most of the last 20 years that I was aware of it, it seems like it has been in a city far away enough that I couldn't afford the travel expenses etc. Maybe some day.

I've attended two of the train shows held in conjunction with the NMRA National Convention. The first was in Philadelphia, when I was visiting my parents nearby, I think in 1976. (That's when I first saw Atlas's first HO Alco S-2 switcher.) The second was in Boston, near where I live, in or about 1986. I'm sure I didn't attend the Philly convention itself. I'm not sure whether I registered for the Boston convention, but I did volunteer to be the guide for two of the layout tours by bus and ended up guiding four or five of them! It was fun.

One,Grand Rapids,MI. 2012. met some great people and put up with a few idiots like the one who insisted I put my Z scale layout on its side so he could see what I was using to make the trains move.

Did Madison,St Paul and KC as a member. Have worked volunteer on the NTS staff since 2001 in St Louis and have made every convention and show, except Toronto since.
Cleveland has been a blast so far-good clinics, amazing models in the judging,a fun city with good food, an amazing facility and the NS runs right in front of the hall-railfan while eating lunch or on breaks! Even had the convention commemorative engine here today.

I went to the National Train Show in Kansas City in 1998. I was on a road trip from Minnesota to Texas so I just stopped on the way on Saturday.
The next year in St. Paul I had models in the RPM room, a Santa Fe CF7 and a Santa Fe SD40-2. I went to the train show both days I think.

I officially have 2 National Train Shows under my belt. I will surely NOT be going to the next year one since it is super far away and the year after it is too. So maybe in another 5 years I will attend a National Train Show that makes it to the East coast, Northern East coast too, NOT in the Miami, FL up to the Carolina's either. A 9 1/2 hour drive is just far enough for me.
Hey John, Was Bobs Photos there? I do not think so. Unless I missed them some how! The best part about their actions is I hear that the Amherst Society is siding with them! Unbelievable, but I have not heard from them yet.

Al, You're missing out if you don't come to the Carolinas...especially the good one (NC). SC is beautiful but a bit Bizaarro World IMHO compared to NC. Brad
