Hello folks--
Changing my main railroad interest to south of the border...I have some nice Santa Fe and other southwestern U.S. rolling stock that must go in order for me to pick up a couple neat Mexican engines that are available out there.
PM me if interested and I'll send you a list of items.
Thank you all very much.

Why get rid of all your el norte cars. They ran south of the border just like theirs run here.

Yes, though you generally see more SP stuff south of the border than ATSF.
Why get rid of them?
I simply have too many. In order for me to increase my percentage of Mexican rolling stock up closer to where it should be, some of the el norte stuff has to go...I don't have room to keep all the el norte stuff (plus my son's passenger equipment.)
Then of course I simply want to replace some of the motive power with Mexican, but don't have a lot of disposable cash on hand.
Thanks for asking--certainly a fair question.

Maybe some people have some el sur del Rio Grande stuff they bought, and would be willing to trade for your stuff. Maybe not, but it's worth throwing the idea out there.

Certainly, of course I'd also consider trades:
I'm looking primarily to get my hands on even just one Atlas FCP RSD-5, or an Atlas FCP U30C, or an Atlas NdeM C424.
However, other FCP or NdeM (even blue smurf and orange FNM) stuff would be considered.
My trade terms are always generous--I will work to make any trade a "win-win" so that both parties are happy with what they get.
I'm not really looking for FXE stuff.
Thanks for the comments.
P.S. Athearn has done a number of blue and orange "smurf" scheme Mexican units, and while for me the scarce Atlas units are more of the "holy grail" (also I like Atlas's rendering of the NdeM red-orange color the best) I would most certainly also consider Athearn motive power like the recent SD-45's and GP38-2's in NdeM/FNM.

Fast 14 If you're worried about having enough room on your layout for all your rolling stock look into using "storage trays". They let you keep them on the rails w/o having to handle each individual item on/off the layout.

I am able to store the stuff I have, and I don't have any issues with damage, but financially it seems to make more sense to "trade" to get more Mexican stuff and less Santa Fe stuff, that's all.
Right now, there's an engine or two I'd like to buy, but I simply can't without selling some of the other stuff...don't have much cash on hand, so I thought maybe this way I'd get some interest...

Don't know about this very minute but over last few of years Mexican cars have been going for VERY HIGH prices on eBay. And all the high bidders all have Hispanic "handles!

Don't know about this very minute but over last few of years Mexican cars have been going for VERY HIGH prices on eBay. And all the high bidders all have Hispanic "handles! I have far more interest in Mexican railways than I do in Canadian railways. In my opinion the pluses are: The scenery is generally easier to model, equipment (including steam) operated 10-20 years longer in Mexico, the huge variety of diesels and "home made" equipment like the San Luis Potosi Alco & BLW rebuilds, the ex-SPdeM line from Nogales to Guadalajara which became the FCP, big electric boxcabs operating into the late 1960s, etc. Plus the food is WAY better.

I'm no longer an Evilbay member and I don't pay their prices...There is some great Mexican rolling stock right now at modest prices here in the U.S., but I need a little cash to be able to buy any of it. Multiple dealers have a few items each...nice Intermountain freight cars and all kinds of motive power--more than I could possibly need.
Plus there's more Mexican rolling stock coming in the pipeline...
These are good days to be looking southward.

Spikre The Southern Pacific of Mexico (SPdeM) went as far south as Guadalajara. SP wanted out, it was never very profitable (floods, political unrest...). They sold it to the Mexican government 12/21/1951 and it became Ferrocarril del PacĂfico (FCP). It retains much of the SP influence to this day. Mexican RR cars in the southwest were/are not uncommon. John Signor's "The Southern Pacific of Mexico and the West Coast Route" is a very good book. It can sometimes be found for as little as $40. www.amazon.com/Southern-Pacific-Mexico-Coast-Route/dp/0870950991

OK, I couldn't take it any longer and ordered an Atlas FCP U30C (link to image below) from the one dealer I know of that still has them in inventory. www.atlasrr.com/Images/HOLocomotives/hou30c/1209/10000886_TQ.jpgThanks to Sean from The Station who also stopped by today and took a few excess freight cars off my hands--thus nearly paying for the U30C! There are more neat Mexican items to follow...
