January! We can't wait that long. We need to start ripping it apart now! For all we know, Jason did not have the 3d scanner set at the right setting. Or maybe he wasn't holding his tool the right way.......

Hmmm... outdoors at Roundhouse Park/Toronto Railway Heritage Centre makes it a short list of possibilities. I'm guessing it's not the 50-ton Whitcomb, and neither CN 4-8-4 6213 nor CP S-2 7020. Assuming Jason and Dan weren't 3-D scanning the miniature steam train ride, that leaves this... and Rapido already makes both the Flexicoil and Blomberg B trucks that these rode on.

Doug - I just looked back at the previous posts and noticed that Jason didn't actually say it was a locomotive - everyone just assumed it is. Are there any examples of rolling stock there? Just curious!

M420TR or whatever the switcher version is called seems unlikely; it has about as many curves as the typical brick.
I could have hooked someone up to go measure one, maybe still can, would have to check and see if he's officially sold it yet. But given they sold a whopping two of them - which there can be two variants on, as the trucks got changed (and the AAR-B version will require another fuel tank casting as they had to modify it for clearance), and almost no demand for the real engines, I don't see it as a moneymaking project.

Might not even ride on rails? MTH did a heck of a job with the traction tires on that one.

Rohr Turboliner would definitely be nice. I could finally retire my Jouef version.
Jason, for future consideration, how about GO Transit Bombardier cars with all the bells & whistles (reversing headlights, interior lighting, etc.). The Athearn ones are sorely lacking detail and run like crap.

Just curious! Dave Dave, that had occurred to me as well. The TRHA collection does include two CP heavyweight passenger cars, a CP Fowler boxcar, TH&B wood caboose, a handcar etc... some of this is stored indoors awaiting restoration, some is outside. There's also a coaling tower, water tower, signal cabin and relocated station on the grounds. Some info under "collections" here: www.trha.ca/collections.htmlDespite the photoshop job in Jason's photo, if the partial glimpse of the CN Tower in the background hasn't been manipulated the sightline would suggest the current (AFAIK) placement of CN GP7 4803. That said the static displays aren't entirely static and the equipment does get moved around from time to time. Doug Stark

Apparently this is sitting in North Bay if you want to head up there and scan it ! .... Mark. I don't think there's enough market share for two manufacturers of those, considering Roco did a run of HO-scale ONR TEE trains... As well, Turbos were overhauled routinely at Spadina Roundhouse, which was at the foot of the CN tower, so that may prove to be a Red Herring or false plot device. Hmmmm, then again it might have been added to hint a CN S13. Or home-made CN / Fairbanks Morse dynamic brake section load test shack.

Jason had already said elsewhere that the announcement in Springfield will be an American model with a Canadian connection. And there will also be an American HO loco announced next month.
Sounds to me like US-spec F40PH next month, and the RDC at Springfield. I'm guessing variations for at least VIA, B&M, and New Haven in the first run. Maybe CP and BCR as well.

What's wrong with P1K RDCs? Does the fact that Walthers can't give them away mean one shouldn't be made?

What's wrong with P1K RDCs? Does the fact that Walthers can't give them away mean one shouldn't be made? It's *Canadian* RDCs that there is some demand for accurate models of, at least within Canada, and this would be a good fit for both Rapido and Jason's Kingston Sub modeling interest. Comparatively speaking, RDC usage in Canada was both more prominent and longer-lived than in the US. The Proto RDCs do not capture the more common Canadian headlight/numberboard/end window/diaphragm configurations, lack the stainless steel fluting on the ends that British Columbia Railway units had, etc. More RDC-4s operated in Canada than the U.S., and there was CP's in-house modified 'RDC-5' - these versions would be unlikely to appear from a U.S. manufacturer.
