Here are some photos of the newest Athearn SD70ACe I bought from Overland Hobbies. Some wavy handrails on the back left side and front left going on, typical Athearn bulbs, very slight forward leaning ditch lights, etc. No other issues I notice. Not doing a review, just showing you the model. I've done too many SD70ACe reviews to throw another one out there just because of a paint scheme. At first I got lazy and took a photo in my kitchen, but the lighting was bad so I took my lazy --- to the basement for the other photos.

Is the cab tipped forward? Something is not looking right in that side shot.

Thanks for putting things in the proper pespective. Thare are a couple of warts, but all in all it looks great. I'm sure it is not dimensionally perfect, but neither is the real engine either. Great pixs

James, nice pics !! But when it comes to these ACEs, just cant warm up to them, they just look wrong for an EMD. almost like a kid built them from Erector Sets or Legos. they are a step up from Lincoln Logs, but just barely. to me EMD was the Builder of the Dynamic GP30 and Spectacular SD45s. must be a Generational Thing ?? Nice pics and a good looking locomotive (this from a guy who's timeline stops at the SD40T-2) Interesting how your model changes color underneath differing light sources.........

James, You forgot one thing. Drop it on the floor and it will look like what the A&M did to it. My bad.... JL

I have one coming from a dealer I buy from. He said it looked ok in the box so I have the prayer beads and smoke incense out hoping it Is not defective or damaged upon arrival.
I avoided any NS heritage units but this scheme I could not.

The bad thing about a product that has sold out is you can't get a replacement sometimes if the model is in bad shape. -James

Thanks for posting the photos. Mine should be here soon. Didn't want to miss out like I did with the Athearn UP MKT and NS IT ACe's which have been impossible to locate.

It's a sharp looking model. I have a friend that's been building a Cat train for some months for his to pull.
Anyone know what the reason was for their delay in delivery.

Hopefully all will be ok. I have other Athearn 70aces and they are fine.

Mine arrived. Initial look is all,is ok. Some minor wave in the rear side handrails, but nothing serious. Just like in. Jame's picture.
Cab is ok. Ditch lights ok. No glue. One sun shade is slightly crooked but just slightly. No worse than some I have put on. Some of the parts are tiny tiny tiny. I would have hated to have assembled it myself.
Paint is great. A tad darker than I expected but definitely Cat Yellow. A very complicated paint job.
It runs nicely. It seems to run better in reverse than forward but it is quiet and smooth and slow if wanted. About like the other Genesis engines I have, which means good runners. I have the non sound version. The lights all work. The rear lights have one bulb out further if you look closely but they work fine.
Overall I give it an A grade. Word is these are not in huge supply so if you are interested don't wait weeks.
