Kliens must have some turnover as their restock is basically, gone.

They must have restocked as did Kliens. Trainworld also does not seem to stock non sound units.

bigblow,
Can you please specify what's wrong with the ES44? I'm hoping for a good review from somebody soon.

And I didn't get these free. The CP 9362 rear truck no electrical pickup. Factory forgot to plug the cable in. Parts had fallen of and loose in the package (Dynamic break vent and air filter) The CP 9366 front came totally smashed from the factory. Problem didn't happen in shipping since the other unit was fine. Had to return for replacement. The CP 9372 Broken air hoses(minor). Breaking mirror(fixed) Broken body latch, able to repair and get road worthy. Don't know if it will hold. Three of four should work. Settle for less I guess. At least they run well and the My question is for how long? CP red is more correct than Athearn's or Intermountain's. The color difference I can deal with new vs years in service. Contacted MTH on all three. Really is this what the hobby has come to? Look forward to something that's been delayed a year and this is it. NOT a happy customer!

They don't sound like any Gevo I've ever heard. At least the Loksound in the Intermountain version is accurate.

There is a great comparison video on YouTube of MTH, loksound, and soundtraxx Loksound is clearly the superior of the three

[/quote] You imply I got mine for free when that is not the case and you have no clue. Don't imply unless you know. As for the issues, these models come from China to the US and change hands many time before they get to your door. Stuff happens, contact MTH or return to your local hobby shop to get replacements. Yes, it sucks these things break...maybe you got a bad batch, etc. But Model railroading items are the only items people seem to expect perfect all the time. Anything else in the world gets returned to the store if broken, etc. and we do so with understanding but noooot trains...oh they're supposed to be perfect even when they are more delicate than most stuff we buy at stores. I got a wireless keyboard that didn't work the other day. I took it back and got a refund. Pretty simple concept that seems to apply to everything but model railroading.

Except in the new "Model Railroading World of PRE-ORDER" the importer only brings in x +10 units, when 11 units go bad then somebody gets screwed. In the old days when I worked at a hobby shop, if a unit went bad, we pulled another one off the shelf, sent the bad one back and got a new one for stock. Try to do that now, there are no other units in stock, and for the price they better be perfect. Rick J

Usually my expectations are always a little lower but this is ridiculous. I started this thread because I was ENTHUSED about a product and much to my dismay not any longer. Now its just angst and frustration. As a customer are my expectations for a new shell & air hoses for the 9372 unrealistic? No. Will it happen. Probably not. I logged service calls online with them and still nothing. The replacement for the 9366 is en route to me. I have my fingers crossed but i'm expecting the worst. I would be a lot more understanding if only one had problems but all three?

In almost all cases trains are sold out before released and there are no replacements available. Especially locomotives.

I finally got around to shooting some pics of my CSX unit tonight. I bought this one off ebay, it arrived last week, so no MB Klein drama It's a no sound version, which seem to be quite scarce. I'm more than impressed with it. Since I'm not a "model train gearhead" or noise fan I'll leave commenting on those aspects to others.... Mine does have a few flaws, but nothing too major that I can't correct. A few of the handrail stanchions are glued crooked and the handrails behind the cab on the right side were bent outward/twisted because the foam insert to hold the handrails straight was wedged too tight because of the grab irons on the body in this area. The ditch lights are crooked and will need to be glued to keep them straight. They appear to be molded with the front handrails. It also has a glue spot on the walkway I assume from attaching the handrails. Overall, I still like the MTH over the Intermountain. I do however think the smaller ditch lights on the IM look better. However, the MTH has thicker looking handrails which looks closer to what is found on gevos built since 2010. The underframe detail on both the IM and MTH are about the same, both could use more detailing, such as the handbrake chain, ect.... I'll buy more MTH gevos in the future, if I can find them, and really look forward to the Dash 9s. Brad

Visually the biggest problem is the ditch lights. But it is still a good looking engine. I will be looking for one or two in western paint. And the dash9s……………!

Well the replacement 9366 has issues too. (Both engineer side tabs on the shell were not only broken but missing). A missing engineer mirror(minor). At this point I have contacted MTH. I have never had this type of problems with my MTH O scale models.
Let me ask anyone what is a realistic expectation of me being the customer, a long time MTH one by the way?
