I always want to go to this show which is just an hour away but EVERY SINGLE YEAR, I miss it. There should be more advertising for that show on the forums and on Facebook but you just do not hear about the show until the pictures get posted a day or two later. That is bad networking by the RPM organizers. Now I may have missed a MENTION about the show but it certainly was not posted in detail anywhere that I visit on a daily basis. And this happens EVERY year where most people do not hear about the show until the pictures are posted like what you just did. Sure would have been nice to see a topic about this show on Thursday running into the pictures posted from the show. Every year we hear about the Amherst Train show weeks and days before the show, so everyone is well aware of the event that weekend. well the same could be done for this show. It is in my own state and sadly I miss it every year, Had I known about it on Thursday I would have finally attended the event. Maybe next year someone will invest some time into properly putting the word out on all the different forums and Social networks. I am sure a Snip it about the show was in the Model Railroader but not everyone including myself read that magazine often at all so many people like me will miss that mention of the event there.

Probably a function of where you are hanging out in your net life. The groups, lists and facebook pages relative to prototype modelers were all but spammed. I'm guessing that the organizers just don't have much presence on general lists, groups and facebook pages. Hopefully one of the organizers will see your post and make note for next year publicity. I type that like "they" are a political national committee. I'm guessing it is three or four guys doing the scutt work.

Ever been to RPM's website? Click on "Other Meets", then scroll down a little way. There it is! Watch that page for the dates for next year's show.

Atlas posted a notice on their website last Thursday -- I don't know at what time -- that they would be at the Collinsville, Connectcut show and invited readers to see them there.
Saturday morning while out for a walk near my home in Massachusetts I waved to a friend washing his car behind his house. A few minutes later he drove up in front of me and parked so we could chat. He was on his way to the show. Once of these years I'll try to make it myself.

We post everywhere, Trainorders... Even here: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/3556/2015-prototype-modelers-meet-29EDIT that was the N-scale forum link here's the HO one: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/3555/2015-prototype-modelers-meet-29We're at West Springfield in the Mallory complex every year to promote and our fliers are at hobby shops all over the east coast from MA to FL. Locally, AA Hobbies has a bunch on display, as does Palmer Hobbies, Tom's Trains and even Time Machine. We've been doing this for 13 years and are the same weekend every year. We're on the National RPM Facebook page and have our own that we post on quite regularly, in addition to our own website (which I have to update now): neprototypemeet.com/ We post on the Disel list and the RPM yahoo groups, the various railroad specific groups and on all the other RPM pages. If you can think of somewhere we missed, let me know. -Tom

It was announced on the "D" list several months ago and on numerous prototype modeling-oriented Yahoo lists at least a month ahead. The RPM website has info for this and other meets: www.railroadprototypemodelers.com/

Tom, Reflecting on Al's post, a suggestion: When making announcements on the various model railroad/railfan related forums, please make sure that if there is a "GENERAL DISCUSSION" category for HO; please include your announcements on it! I'm guilty of visiting online forums and scanning through the General category the majority of the time before clicking out and visiting another forum. I'm guessing that a number of modelers do that as well. Even on this forum, I spend little time in the Electonics, N-Scale, or Crew Lounge categories. I hang around here which is basically the equivalent of a "General HO" category.
