I have started using AK Interactive's weathering products recently, and love them. I stumbled upon this youtube video of a new product of theirs called Extreme metal.
The wing painting isn't all that impressive, but skip to the second half where they paint the spoons. What really struck me was the polished aluminum and chrome. That's got to be the best sprayed chrome I've seen. And the best part, no base coat. I wonder if some of the colors could be mixed to create a nice stainless color?
I might pick some up to try.

If you don't polish it, does it still have a true metal looking appearance?

I honestly couldn't tell the difference on my monitor from before and after buffing it out. I ordered a bottle of chrome to try out on some vehicles I'm working on.

look forward to that comparison when you get around to it. Price is alot cheaper it appears. And if its just as good would be a good alternative if i ever decided to build a NJ Transit passenger set.

Here is a quick test with this chrome paint. On the right is the original chromed grille. On the left is the paint, shot directly over the resin casting. Not bad at all. I will say, it is delicate. As you can see I buffed it right off the bumper guards.

I'm thinking about painting some ATSF passenger cars and wonder which color I should use. Looks like chrome might be too bright for the stainless steel look and wonder if aluminum or dark aluminum would be more realistic. What do you think?

I honestly couldn't recommend which color would be best for stainless steel. They are supposed to be doing more colors, and wouldn't be surprised if stainless steel is one of them.
