Per a post on T.O., Shane Wilson, formerly of Athearn is starting a new company.....Scale Trains. Maybe you guy's that want a quality SD40-2 just might get it from them. It will be interesting to see just what they do produce. They will be at Train Fest.

Interesting! I wish him well. (Not too imaginative on the company name...)

Interesting! I wish him well. (Not too imaginative on the company name...) Really, it's kind of clever. It makes every other train manufacturer "not scale" by definition.

My opinion:
They can call the company pretty much anything they want if they make great product.

Nice. Anyone would love to join that endeavor starting from the ground up and be apart of it as it grows. That would be a cool place to start for sure! Hmmm.... Maybe one day for me.

It will be interesting to see just what they do produce. They will be at Train Fest. Perhaps he left Athearn because they refused to make a high end SD40-2. And yes, perhaps it will be his first offering. One can hope.

Yes, saw that. Signed up for the news letter. Looks like the four guys that left Athearn are in the new company so it will be interesting to see what they bring. Shane commented HO and N scale products fitting various era's; we'll know more in the coming months. Sounds interesting!

From the look of the web site, it looks to be a modern based company, especially when you see NS diesels pulling an oil tank train. Good luck to your new company Shane and I'll see you at Trainfest.

I would love new ACF 4600 and ACF 4460 center flow covered hoppers. Largest gap in my grain fleet.

I would love new ACF 4600 and ACF 4460 center flow covered hoppers. Largest gap in my grain fleet. I'd substitute a 5250 for the 4460. And that would be the largest gap(s) for me. Ed

...there's still some steamers that haven't been adequately done, how about a Harriman style Consolidation? Used by lots of roads, although I may be a bit biased toward the Espee variant...

...and then, according to some people here, a "properly done" decisive EMD, not GMD, SD40-2... ...just saying, before 'he' does again...

...just saying, before 'he' does again... Are you sure its a "he"? I'm convinced its an automated forum widget that mentions SD40-2s in every thread.

I'm a little bit excited about this so,I signed up for their newsletter.
Why a little bit?
I really don't need that much more but, if a T-6 or a Lima 1200hp switcher is announced in the future I would be highly interested.

Was Shane the guy who would do the good Athearn promo vids from the train shows and actually answer your questions on facebook?
