Overall, very nice. I am (again) disappointed to see grossly oversize grab hardware. Luckily, I ordered the as-delivered ones, where there's not much of that on the model.

All of the units in the photos are top-notch gorgeous!
Who cares if PC was the biggest blunder in RR history. Point is that it existed, many freight and passenger trains ran under its flag and there are quite a number of us that model PC equipment. These units ran right past my home in NYC back in the late 60s.
Looks like I'll be adding at least one "worm" equipped FL9 to my locomotive fleet!
Although the protoypes were often grimy, I plan on focusing my weathering to the pilot, trucks and underframe areas.

Well said Antonio I am a Penn Central fan and I'm grateful that Rapido made the decision of producing my dream locomotive and many of my fellow modelers I am not complaining about the handrails or grab irons being thicker than they should be that's an easy fix just be happy that finally we have an excellent model of an FL9 and we don't have to spend brass models prices so again Kudos to Rapido for stepping up and producing this fine looking model.

 well I'm going to call out Jason for these too Pretty PC units !! 2 days after leaving the Shop they were Filty and Grimey ! have never seen any FL9 that Clean !! even Mr Clean couldn't get one that Shiny !! those PC units are really Close to the Fooooooobie threshold !! Spikre

 in terms of the over a Billion Dollars given to keep it afloat,PC never paid back anything. it was too Important to the country the BS went. but as early as 1970 C&O,N&W,Southern,wanted PC split up,that would have been the Proper way to deal with PC. just shows how long Stupidity has reigned in DeeeeCeeee. and then to Crown their achievement they gave CR to the Philly Crooks. That would be me, I think. At least for the handrails (actually, the grabs--the handrails look pretty good). However, it looks as if everyone else thinks the oversize grabs are just fine. And they are apparently an "easy fix". I am in luck, as I mentioned, though; because I ordered the early ones that didn't have all that extra bent rod stuck all over. I expect mine will look "just soopah". But I had hoped that we had seen the last of old P2K/Kato cast grabs on high end locos. Ed |

Yep B26, we're on the same page!  When I think about how long some of us (myself included) have been asking Walthers and the other locomotive manufacturers to "at least" consider producing an FL-9, and the overall mindset from the reps (and modelers on forums) was "Well, it won't sell! It's a regionally captive unit"....I'm really grateful that it's become a reality. What sweetens this is that this unit is going to be detailed to the hilt, including FULL lighting effects and era-specific paint schemes.

I can't wait for these! Good thing I held onto my Walthers Metro North & Conn DOT Horizon cars to run with these. Here's hoping this run sells completely out. The next run will hopefully have the rebuilds as well as the other railroads that used the FL-9 that weren't included in this run. I'm still pushing for a NH/PC EP-5 to get done  |
