Got an email from Bowser announcing M636 locomotives in about every variant known to man, including modified air intakes and vents, with or without water tanks, and CP variants with or without air start. Even the D-L unit in both paint schemes (patched CP and GVT corporate). Due 8/16, prices up a tad at 209.99/309.99.
They also will be doing the SD40-2F "Red Barn" again in all variations, which is basically four paint schemes, three with nose door porthole and one without. 219.99/319.99 and due "late 2016" -

Does "about every variant known to man" include the modifications to CP 4711 / MNNR 71 for the Caterpillar rebuild?

Hope they do the right sound for the Cat rebuild. When 71 is in the consist, you can't really hear anything else:

Did they have any more info on the C415 they plan to do?

When I asked them about the C415 at the National Train Show, they said its being worked on as we speak and a definite 'GO', we won't see it though until sometime in 2017...

C415 We are still working on the design. I am having tooling made in Northumberland PA and will run the plastic parts in Montoursville. M640 will not be made. I check the body and it is an all new body. M636 MNNR 71 - plan to have the sounds for this. SD40-2F without nose door will be made in the future. Lee English

?? Mr Lee, after the RS-3 is launched, will an RS-2 or RS-11 be a follow on ? those 2 really don't get much of the credit they deserve even by Alco fans. Spikre

Do any of the CP M636s have ditch lights?

Do any of the CP M636s have ditch lights? ...yes they do, just google "CP M636" and check out the pics, lots of units with ditch lights - they were invented up there and used a long time prior to being introduced everywhere else...

...if you go to Bowser's site and look at the drawings for the M636, you will see that later on they had ditch lights applied, the are shown on the drawings, just look closely, they're below the deck above the rock pilots.

CP SD40-2s had their ditch lights applied in the late 70s, I'd have to assume the M636s were installed around the same time.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
I'd been on the Bowser site trying to figure out which units had ditch lights installed - looks like one of the earlier and two later models. I was just wondering because after Mr. Englishs last post he'd cleared up about the controllable class lights and such.

A nice RS-11 would be, well, nice. I've got a about 4 each of the Atlas and P1K, and I'd happily replace them with a quality item.

Roger, have both models of RS-2s. Proto shell is a standard as delivered shell. Kato is mostly as delivered also, but does have the Water Cooled Turbo option. the Proto rides a bit high over the trucks,no add on details, which was fine for a P-1000 model. Kato rides at the rite height over the trucks, but the fan housing is slightly to tall. with D&H they put Air Turbo stacks on loco numbers had Water Cooled Turbos in the pics found here, but not sure about the other roads. Kato didn't really seem to give the RS-2s the push and attention the models deserved, and could have done several other runs in different roads. both are good decent models, but not fantastic models. it was unfortunate they came out about the same time, that must have limited runs of both from Proto and Kato. if Bowser does make the 4744 one will end up here !! missed it in Canada, even found the MLW Works, but they were closed for some reason ? maybe another one of their 70s Strikes ? have been reading that 4744 did frequent the MLW shop as they actually owned the unit and were always trying different set ups with it. ending up with the A-1-A AC Drive Motors experiments. also they played with the HP,3200,3600,4000,at various times, may have had V-16s in it while the V-18 was being shopped. Spikre Bowser has mentioned that it was just too different to do. They'd be tooling it up for only one loco. One could make a similar argument for the Cat-engined MNCR 71 they're doing, but that unit would have good sales in the US as well as in Canada as CP 4711. You can still visit 4744 at the Exporail museum in St. Constant QC, it's done up all nice and on display inside.

The differences between the rebuilt 4711 seem to be fairly minimal externally compared the standard unit, mainly air intake differences. Since Bowser is offering a variety of intakes I think it's a minor difference in the tooling. The 4744 is a whole different beast, it would require a whole new long hood.
That being said, I would definitely purchase a 4744.

I was just browsing through Loksound's sound files and I see the engine files for the MLW 251 that goes in these units has been updated, and there's a new file for the Caterpillar 3608 in CP 4711/MNNR 71
