CN Hydro units!!!! @#$%@#$%@#$%@ ::breathes deeply:: I'm speechless. The Bowser rep I spoke to at Springfield told me that these won't show up for at least a couple of years. That sneaky sod! And I didn't even have to start patching 5721 from the first run (wrong grilles and all).
Between GMD-1 1600s, Dash-8 Drapers, Amtrak NPCU, VIA Budd dome (maybe), and now this - next winter is going to be very painful.

No Buffalo & Pittsburgh or Wheeling & Lake Erie, Darn ! Buffalo & Pittsburgh has no GMD SD40-2's, and the Wheeling only has one, which is the former BC Rail unit they bought from MMA.

Yes B&P does have some, there in the 3300's. The Wheeling also has 2 former Algoma Central units, 1 of which is now Black and Orange while the other remains in it' nicely patched WC scheme. which makes 3.

I was thinking I might order up a HLCX and/or a CP Rail plain like they note was used on the former D&H, for inventory. Maybe. Bowser engines have been a tough sell, the last two I had to dump at about 30% off.

^^^ I got my Bowser SD40-2 at 30% off, which is a normal discount for Bowser products. At Timonium, a guy was selling them at 40% off.

That might be the same guy who does some of the larger shows up here.
I don't know how he makes any money. I compared when I had one of the last run of U25B's in regular DC. He had them out for literally $10 over my cost not counting shipping. The sound ones he had and they were higher, maybe 25% off. At that amount he has to sell a staggering number of them just to be even on the costs of doing the show - anywhere from 15 to 40, depending on sound or not sound and just what the tables and so forth all costs.
I don't see where he's selling that many at the shows in this region. I usually have to move stuff like that on eBay. Sometimes I can't even move it there. At a show, my average sale is around $20.

The question came up on what would be the future releases of the GMD SD40-2, and this was rumored to be Mr. English's reply [per another forum]: CP Small Multimark CP Large Multimark CP Beaver StL&HR CP Elephant Ears [experimental shrouds over the radiators] Wisconsin Central [ex-Algoma Central] HLCX - QNS&L body Algoma Central ON modern QNS&L Late - Orange Stripes W/pipes, Wellsboro & Corning [ex QNS&L] HLCX blue BC Rail RWB late scheme CN Lycoming Valley The CN units are apparently the ex-Ontario Hydro units, so I guess the question is how long the ex-Algoma Central SD40-2's operated under WC ownership before having their steps and lights rebuilt. The 6002 still has its canadian appliances in a 1996 photo.

The guy I bought mine from gets the usual 40/10 Bowser discount from his distributor, so a $199 list engine costs him $108 plus shipping for the order. He sells them at 30% off, sound or non-sound. $140 non-sound, $210 sound. He does not have a store, sells only at shows and occasionally Ebay, so he does not have that overhead.

I got my Bowser SD40-2 at 30% off, which is a normal discount for Bowser products. At Timonium, a guy was selling them at 40% off. I just got CP 5721 for $210 (30% off) in the plain red, non-Multimark scheme with sound from a dealer at Timonium. It was his last CP unit, and while I had planned to wait for the next run or find a unit from a different number series (I have 5723 in the dual flags scheme), I couldn't pass up on that price. These are such awesome models, it's hard to resist them. I'm not sure of this unit still had the marker lights in 1998, my modeling era, but I'm excited to try them out, since the dual flags unit doesn't have them. Anyone know when those lights were blanked out? They seem to be around in the early '90s but mostly gone by the mid-2000s, although I found at least one unit that still had them in 2008. As usual, I had trouble finding photos from the late '90s online. Dave

Word is this run will receive revised dynamic brake blisters as Lee was able to get better measurements. Let's hope that resolves the appearance issues that part had on the first run.
