Did you reletter a car to get the Cotton Belt? The ends with the missing boards look great! I'm hunting down some decal sets so I can add the appropriate markings to these and other cars. Great job Paul!

Paul,
I saw photo's of the WOT cars in Dave's pbase link in the other topic - nice!
Is it true that the XMUG trains consisted of at least half plain flat cars and to a lessor extent the bulkheads? I was re-reading the info on WOT and Railgoat and also thought I saw a comment on Trainorders to that effect. SP apparently originally bought the plain flat cars for lumber and the bulkheads for plasterboard (Notes comment that the bulkheads were routinely pressed into lumber service as well). If the plain flat cars were the main lumber cars, it makes sense the XMUG would consist of lots of plain flat cars along with some bulkheads.
Anyway, back when the first run WOT was released, I only bought a couple plain flat cars and twice as many bulkheads. Recently I bought a couple more plain WOT SP flat cars to balance it out a bit. I also got lucky and found another SP bulkhead on ebay and grabbed it. These WOT cars are totally groovy, heh heh. Looking forward to the Cotton Belt cars in March!

I have a CP flat on order even though it isn't an exact match. Obvious discrepancy is the number of stake pockets (19 on the model vs 18 on the CP cars) and the exact shape of the pocket. There may be other more subtle differences. However, in my opinion it is close enough to justify one if only to help support WOT in hopes they will continue to introduce other HO scale freight cars.

Off by one stake pocket and pocket shapes? That's a pretty darn close stand-in. Heck, my Athearn Genesis PC&F 50' D&RGW box car is a good match for the prototype except for the location of the tack board. I can deal with that. I realize that WOT and Trainworx are primarily N-scale companies, but I have to say, they are filling some important (to me) niches in my HO roster. Trainworx has yet another new trailer coming this year - the 40' Brown trailer - great for 1960's and 1970's. Frankly, I'm jealous of what they've been making and if I were an n-scaler, I'd have been constantly broke over the last 10 years. As it is, well. LOL.

My CP 315071 stand-in Napanee Industries flat arrived yesterday from Wheels of Time. It looks good, is nice and heavy and tracks well. Bonus points for them correctly reversing the order of the lettering on either side of the car such that "CP Rail" is always at the B-end. I will need to add the six white reflective diamonds and black "Plate C" lettering to either side to match my era but overall it is a nice addition to my freight car fleet. As a 62-ft flatcar it certainly adds some variety!
