Sign me up for 2 or 3 SDL39's please! Kaslo's already done the SDL39 and they did it quite well. Their drive though sucked pond water. Lots of problems with at least the early run. Supposedly fixed with the last, but the drive is still a big weak spot. Body may not be too bad, considering it is resin, but the drive, especially the truck gear boxes isn't very pretty. |

So the BLW 4-4-1500 "babyface" is off the table? People's wants are all over the map. What are you planning to produce commercially? Currently, I am looking into producing a Lima LS-1000/1200 shell to fit over a Stewart VO-1000 in HO scale. It would also be available in N scale. Interest in that switcher seems high, while the interest in the Babyface was unfortunately low. Dreadnought |

Hmmmm... another 2 shells popped into my head last night while perusing "Nickel Plate Diesel Locomotives"... both mid and late F-M H12-44's. The early would be a drop fit on the Walthers H10-44 drive and the late would be a drop fit on the Stewart/Bowser VO660/DS4-4-1000/S12. Here's a couple of pics from Fallen Flags:   |

Late U28C and early U30C. The old blue box is all we have for these models. Late U28C owners include L&N, PRR, SP, and UP. While early U30C owners include ACL,C&O, D&H, PRR, and RDG. Also included are Seaboard System, SCL, Chessie, Conrail, and PC. +1 And with those popular road names, they'll sell! Mark |

In 2003 - 2010, Atlas did its U30C in three different Phases. Nothing since. I'd be happy if they ran them again as-is, call it Trainman or not, without it needing to be upgraded or Genesis quality, just so they are affordable as multiple-unit purchases.

The LifeLike Proto 2K FA chassis came in three different runs. The first run was the early release of the FA-2/ FA-2 with the twirly cooling fan driven off of the rear flywheel. It was not DCC friendly. The second run was the FA-1 / FB-1. It was DCC friendly. The third run was another fun of the FA-2 / FB-2 but the body had been redone. It too was DCC friendly.  |

The earliest phase U30C has only been offered by Athearn or brass. The Phase I U28C has been offered by Rivarossi leaving only the later phase units to be done. Regardless, a big hole exists that could easily be filled with an updated version. I'm all for an Atlas quality U30C again as it was one of their best U-boats to date. |

Yes, the phase 1 gets no attention from manufacturers because of the low production numbers of the prototype units. Only ACL, C&O, PRR, and RDG had them (and in small quantities). Still, we saw Bowser produce the C430, so I have hope that a RTR phase 1 U30C will find its way to the market someday. In the meantime, you can check out this build over on the Reading Modeler to see what it takes to make a phase 1. Much more work than I have the time for, so paying for a decent shell seems reasonable to me. A U30C is bornThanks, Mark |

I guess because I wasn't interested in the roadnames in the first run, and the second run was Phase II, and subsequent runs contained both Phase II and Phase III units, I had fallen into thinking the first run had been Phase I.   Very basic CAD, still a lot of work to do on it, but this is a project that I started intending to make a kit. I stopped due to the limitations of the software I was using, the amount of re-working that would be needed to smooth all the curved surfaces, and the amount of additional work and investment that would be required to actually get this made in plastic. Ideally it would need to be imported into more powerful software and finished off that way. A kit would require breaking down the CAD into sections (cab roof, cab sides, hood sides, deck, pilots, etc.) and having them 3D printed as masters for resin casting, collaborating with someone for laser cut windows, collaborating with someone for photo etched grills and steps, acquiring a pressure vessel (for casting), making a CAD for a chassis frame that will accept Athearn switcher trucks and motor, having that chassis frame 3D printed as a master for whitemetal casting, making up bending jigs/forming dies for handrails, making or sourcing stanchions, and doing a lot of test builds to make sure that the kit goes together easily and produces a good looking model. None of that is beyond my ability, the only problem is I'm simply not passionate enough about the SW1001 for it to be worth the sizable investment of my time and money. I'd be willing to pass the model files on to anyone who wants to carry on. |

 the GE U30CG would fit right on any of the later "C" boat chassis. not very common with only 6 built,but they do look good. Spikre

If we're limiting it to just shells and not full new locos, I'd say the Caterpillar rebuild GP15/20/30C. Plus a run of the associated TC&W and RRV&W decals.

I contacted CMR shells on Facebook about an S6 shell and they sounded quite interested .Who knows CMR is just a front for Big Dawg. If they produce an S6 it will no doubt be a ripoff of the Atlas S2 or Bachmann S4. |
