The N scale version (Microtrains) looks even less like a real coupler - what do N scalers do who are put off but it? Is there a more realistic option like HO'ers have in Sargent? Microtrains now also makes a coupler they call "True-Scale Coupler". It's in two parts like an Accumate... www.micro-trains.com/true-scale-couplers

FWIW, I pulled a new Athearn RTR SD40 out of the box to put a decoder in the other day. I was changing to Kadees anyways, but in trying to pull one of the plastic couplers out, the end of the knuckle snapped right off.
Now it's possible the guy I got it from ran it, but it doesn't show any wheel wear, so how it got whacked to crack it I've no idea.
