......and a new week begins.
Good Monday morning to all the Forum Folks.
Fresh hot coffee has been brewed in both leaded and unleaded varieties. The free range chickens have been busy laying eggs to be cooked to your order. Western style omelletes are the morning's specialty, but you can get 'em cooked any way you'd like. A side of bacon is frying up on the grill, as are the link and pattie sausages. We've got sausage gravy, a pan of S.O.S., oatmeal, grits, and even cream 'o wheat. Cat head biscuits, Texas toast, hash browns and home fries round out the sides for this morning. On the counter you'll find donuts, muffins, corn bread and toaster pastries, along with a bowl of fresh fruits. There's a small variety of cold cereals if you prefer and the milks, drinks and juices are in the cooler. Order up, sit a spell, relax and enjoy the morning before heading off to whatever it is you must do today.

Happy Monday... I seem to have something going on with my computer, it's losing passwords and some programs are crashing. If it was a Windoze machine, I'd think it had a virus.

Not many here... I think the coffee burned! Mmmm... There's nothing like the smell of fresh-burned coffee in the morning.

I don't think Perry wrote down the directions to the new place and might be wandering around, suffering from caffeine deprivation!! ;D

Good Morning Terry and the rest of the Forum Folks.
We're supposed to get some on/off rain sometime today through tomorrow morning.
The Monday blend of coffee is brewed up. A little extra "lead" has been added to get us going. Eggs are stacked and await your order. The bacon, sausage links 'n patties and thin chops are frying on the grill. Plenty of grits, oatmeal and S.O.S. on hand, too. Donuts, breads and biscuits are on the counter and the liquid stuff is in the cooler. Pile it on, dig in and fill up.
Hope that everyone has a good day.

We had 4 1/4 inches of snow yesterday, but it's all gone today.

We had 4 1/4 inches of snow yesterday, but it's all gone today. I like that about the South. If we do happen to get a few inches of snow, it's usually gone in a day or so. Of course, somehow I don't think it generally works that way where you are

Good Monday Morning (5/21/12) to all the Forum Folks.
The coffees fresh brewed. Eggs are lined up and await their fate. There's a side of bacon frying up on the grill, as are the requisite sausage links & patties and thin chops. Cat head biscuits, with sausage gravy, grits or oatmeal make up the sides. The waffle mix has been made up for a little something different. The breads and donuts are on the counter as is a bowl of fresh fruits. The drinks, milks and juices are in the cooler.
Sunday afternoon was relatively quiet. Only a couple of non-serious calls. Didn't do anything train related after getting home though. We got a very light, brief shower and it misted all the way to and from picking Adam up from work last night at 11:00.
Hope that one and all have a good day.

I like the box, and was thinking of doing something similar for our SoCal Free-mo group. "The Box" comes in handy when all you have to do is plug it in!
Oh, and I'll have a cheese and bacon omlette to go. Thanks!

Good Day everybody. I've been contemplating another bridge over the yard. I got a series of bridges that I'd intended for a section that never materialized, and now I'm going to use them as an abandoned track turned pedestrian/bicycle traffic, entering the large city. I'll be up checking that out later today.

We had 4 1/4 inches of snow yesterday, but it's all gone today. Douglas I looked up you island and now I can understand the possible snow storm this time of year. If you don't mind sharing, how did you come to live up there? I spent two weeks in Anchorage back in March of 1994 for the FAA at the airport and really liked seeing Alaska and the railroad there. The blue ice was really spectacular in the bay south off of the Seward Hwy. This is a picture from Earthquake park at Anchorage. Larry

dhtr, I sure hope I never need something quite that 'exotic" fao my railroad!! Looks as if it is very well done. Douglas, that's a pretty good idea for those "excess" bridges. Larry, that's a really nice pic. I've only spent a brief layover at the airport in Fairbanks, while enroute to Okinawa, Japan, back in 1980.

Larry
I'm medical retired (auto racing accident), so my wife is the main source of income for our family. She's a nurse, and was working in management in a hospital in Chariton, Iowa. We were living in Oskaloosa, Iowa at the time, and just wanted a change. One day, a little over 11 years ago, she was offered a job up here. We checked it out, liked it here, and the job was good, so we packed up, and went west...well...northwest.
The snow storm was rather unusual for us. This is an island that actually stays much warmer than the mainland. For us winters generally have temperatures in the 30sF-40F, but we just had a rather hard, long one this year.

Beautiful portrait, Larry. We've been to Earthquake Park myself, part of our 10th Anniversary trip to Alaska.

That is really the great Northwest, as you said! Sometimes a change is good. Thanks for the reply. I really enjoyed seeing Alaska and it will always be a land with great scenes of beauty. One of my guys I take pictures with on Donner worked at the Denali Park last summer and enjoyed it so much he returned to work up there year. He took pictures of the Alaska Railroad which is very interesting, but a long way from your location. Larry

I lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 8 years while working for construction companies. We always had snow at this time, the period was called Break-Up and since the sewers were frozen the water from the melting snow all sits on the streets and when it snows it just makes more of a mess.
I also made it to most of the state as we had projects in Prudhoe Bay, Northwest Alaska above Kotzebue, Valdez, Fairbanks and Soldotna. Drove the length of the pipeline as our company had the maintenance contract for the pipeline.
I will have to scan my slides to get some pictures that I took.
