Athearn has posted that they will be announcing a brand new Genesis model tomorrow after 7pm CST online with guests James Wright and Ken Patterson.
They have added the #withtreadplate to the announcement, it's heavy (17.57 ounces if I read the image correctly), and in the topics they have replied that it has only previously been done in brass.

Reading all the comments it seems that's too light for a 6 axle diesel.

SDL39, GP59, GP60 **demonstrator**?
Unless they are finally breaking their unspoken policy against older GE units.
But the tread plate statement seems to imply EMD.
Does a Krauss Maffei have treadplate somewhere?

Or maybe even a Genset. Or a trackmobile. Not a lot of butter zone there once you subtract the tare weight of the packaging.

Does the Ingalls locomotive have treadplate? Perhaps it does in its rear vestibule...

17.6 ounces... Not quite. It's actually 23oz. Let the speculation begin!

My money is on the Spartan cab DASH9-40C (C40-9). This loco was pictured on the Athearn teaser a while back.

There have been rumblings of a Siemans Charger. A possibility?

Why Wright and Patterson? Personalities for sure. Big Al probably scared them off with his chop saw.

What auto rack has treadplate? Steve The plate that goes between the auto racks so cars can run all the way through them to load.

Why Wright and Patterson? Personalities for sure. Same question I had. I'd guess because they both have a pretty big reach on Youtube.

Why Wright and Patterson? Personalities for sure. Same question I had. Sadly, any hint of impartiality has just gone out the window on their future reviews, especially of Athearn. After all these years, whether magazine, video, or other, you would think that reviewers would have learned by now.

There are no impartial reviews. We discussed this topic in its own thread at the time. Everyone has a sponsor and a vested interest. Those who post honest, objective reviews with a consistent scoring method across a common set of review items are told they can forget about being sponsored as long as they continue to post "negative" reviews.

Well, per the other thread, they did say all the switchers have been done. My money says it's all the switchers in one box.
