I bought a jar of Scalecoat II IC orange and its more red than orange!
Also, there is a person that makes the correct IC/ICG lettering for the Paducah GP10's and I can't seem to find him on Google. I have before, but didn't have a GP10 to build. Now I have the GP10 and need the decals and a good orange.

I am please with the results that I got from using ModelFlex ICG Orange. One thing that I found out was that the primer was very important for the final look. I originally used PollyScale Gray Undercoat as a primer but the orange did look vivid enough for me so next I went with a very light gray (almost white) and this resulted in a vivid orange that represented a freshly painted ICG (or IC) painted car.

I use Scalecoat II New Haven Orange. That's all that I use. I think it's perfect! Here it is on my caboose: Untitled by Timothy N. Alund, on Flickr I working on some boxcars using the same paint if you would like to see them also just let me know.

Both the ICG boxcar and the caboose look good and right. When I was standing on the platform at Ivanhoe waiting for my train to downtown on the IC electric, I used to watch the ICG in action. It was the late 1970's. Yeah, I know, I'm old.

Looking great. Keep in mind IC and ICG faded and got dirty so unless it is way off, the Orange will fit some time frame.

I tried New Haven orange for a boxcar I did too and it turned out great. The best part is I didn't have to primer it. I tried a couple of other oranges with horrible results. Orange, like yellow, is a tough color to get good coverage with on a model in my experience.

How long before that orange began to fade to a Creamsicle orange? Reds, oranges and yellows these days of unleaded paint fade extremely fast. There is a school district in this area that has the yellow hoods faded on their bus fleet significantly in just a couple years.
That is a very nice looking caboose...

Any study at all of the available IC/ICG photos of the early '70's reveals that even factory fresh orange and white paint jobs weathered very quickly to the point that within 5 years of being brand new some of the engines needed full repaint jobs. This was especially true of Alco C-636's, GE U30B's and U33C's. The photos don't lie--they faded quickly from the as-delivered orange.
The IC/ICG operated within the rustbelt, in an area of severe winter cold and summer heat, combined with acid rain from some of the industries. Accordingly, the orange paint faded and even chalked relatively quickly.
There are a number of images out there of fresh orange equipment next to weathered orange equipment, and you'd almost think that two completely different shades of orange paint were used--but that was not generally the case.
I've read on other modeling sites that it takes about 7 years outside for (non-lead based) paint to go from factory fresh new to noticeably faded and chalked (assuming there is not a high quality clearcoat or the paint is not regularly waxed).
The Santa Fe reds and yellows all weathered quickly, too.

The cabooses are indeed beautiful; however my personal favorite is the boxcar!

I want to know where you guys are getting those cabooses. I have been wanting one for years but the brass versions are WAY out of my price range. I could use a couple.

Yes, show us more boxcars or other IC/ICG rolling stock! There's never enough.
