I just saw this on eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/195445204779Looks like Concept Models (Con-Sys) is for sale. I don't think I've seen someone try to sell a business on eBay before, but it looks like all the tooling and designs are included. At least there is the option to make a 'best offer.' I've never built one of these models, and I've heard mixed things about them. They had a lot of weird Schnabel cars and high-capacity tank cars. I can appreciate the fact that they tried to fill this gap in the hobby.

I think they may have one too many zeros..
I hate to knock a small business, but those kits were crap. I ordered the one Schnabel car and the pile of junk I got was totally useless. I was never so dumbfounded with what I got.. Its barely enough to even reverse engineer to make a 3D model out of.
He used to have some ridiculous disclaimer on the website..
I will dig mine out tomorrow and post some photos.

I remember in the Seventies an advertiser in Railroad Model Craftsman ran an add for a $4.95 brass locomotive kit. The buyer received a block of brass and a chisel. Whether or not the ad was a joke I'm not sure....

I can appreciate the fact that they tried to fill this gap in the hobby. I've built a couple of their larger tank cars. They are basically a very simple kit with lots of work needed to make a car. I replaced a number of kit parts with better parts to get what I wanted. They work well and look the part but are not a rivet counter type of kit . The decals with the kits have not been offered anywhere else as far as I know so they come in handy ! --- Ken

The decals seemed decent. A few years ago I considered getting one of the cryogenic tank cars just for the decals. Maybe he should try selling those to Microscale or Fusion Scale Graphics. I know someone who used to do custom decals, and Fusion ended up with the artwork when he closed down.
The resin castings look pretty poor, and the master design poor as well. I always thought I could scratchbuild one of these cars better. It seems like a lot of the dimensions were estimated, and a lot of the cars seem to ride high on their trucks. Even with some basic drawings and photographs, I could probably do a better job rebuilding a lot of these models. 3D printing would greatly improve some of the smaller details and a styrene model would not have all the air bubbles these resin models do.

I don't think the 3D printed kits are as bad as the resin ones, at least they aren't warped and filled with air bubbles. I think the main thing going against them is the type of printer being used. Looks like they are made with an FDM extrusion printer. They would be a lot nicer on a resin printer. They would have much finer layers and smoother surfaces as a result.

It seems a waste of my steadily diminishing brain cells to express my opinion of what I see when I visit the website. Ed

Scuzzy.
$15,000 is kind of like that chick who thinks she's really hot, but is not.

www.con-sys.com/product_USNX_1019.htmThese models always looked like they were assembled by a child. Most look like they ride about 5 feet above the bolsters. I'm sure most of the patterns were made in an afternoon rather than a couple weeks.

Everyone gets old. It may be that this owner got too old to do this about a decade ago, but kept trying anyway - and it shows. It's very sad.

Yeah I agree. At least he's marketing something, making an effort. I can't dislike him because he doesn't seem dishonest. Unlike some companies, eh?

I got his Modern Cryogenic car kit, I opened took one good look at it an threw it away. I was disappointed cause that’s one car that’s needed now a days.

There is a customer for everything. I'm amazed by the junk folks spend their money on in this hobby. Especially the gaggle of people offering "professional weathering services" on Facebook and Instagram.

It's a time-honored tradition!

Considering several of the items have been made in plastic I don't see much value here.
