Longs Drugs at one location used to sell model trains too, which was out of place for the type of store. (years ago I worked at Longs Drugs in Arcata CA and Woodland CA.

At one time, I was told that some Long's store managers were given free reign to carry specialty items. Besides the store with the model train department, there was one with a hunting and fire arms department, one with a high end photo department (i.e. Nikon, Canon, etc), one with a pretty good plastic models department, and of cours ethe ones in Hawaii with Hawaiian items.
