Received my BNSF reefer today from ScaleTrains. Arrived in good shape and looks great. I love the little green LED on the refrigeration unit. Replacing the couplers with Kadees may be a challenge due to the details on the coupler box. That's an issue with Atlas models as well.

Even Shane has a day job away from ST that probably takes up most of his time. Bollocks.

I remember the 1980's when we got 12 new items a year from all manufactures, and everyone wasn't so uptight and cranky.

Received my BNSF reefer today from ScaleTrains. Arrived in good shape and looks great. I love the little blue LED on the refrigeration unit. Replacing the couplers with Kadees may be a challenge due to the details on the coupler box. I received mine as well. It's a nice car but I really don't like how ScaleTrains does coupler boxes on big rolling stock cars like this. If you want to replace their couplers with Kadees, there is a plastic bracket right over the coupler box screw that holds the air hose. In order to get to the screw, you have to lift the bracket up with some force which is attached to the coupler box cover with plastic pegs. For me, half of the time this process will break the air hose connection. Also, the air hose comes out right in the center, which will be in the way of trip pins. So you either have to clip your trip pin or the hose.

Ah, MORE things to attend to. It's almost like this is a kit.
Happily, I've only got two showing up.
Still, they look like great cars, and I've got no complaints.

Since its only one car and its a metal coupler, I chose to keep the ST coupler figuring that I'd damage the details on the coupler box replacing them. I carefully painted them a rusty dark brown color and now they don't look too bad and aren't very noticeable when running in a train. Received my BNSF reefer today from ScaleTrains.
