nothing new from me this week. I have a Kato SD45 shell in the 'Vat-O-Stripper(tm)' to build into a non dyno CNW SD45, but that's hardly worth taking pictures of right now. RCH...just wanted to say that Mopac unit is coming out nicely! Enjoy! Kelley. www.dufordmodelworks.com

RCH: Kelley's right, you did a terrific job on the MP SD-40. Very subtle weathering, particularly liked the battery box leakage. Very nice. Bill

Here is mine. This is a Branchline 40' boxcar lettered with Highball graphics BAR decals. These cars were originally painted in the famous red, white, and blue colors but by the 70's it seems that the 40' cars were all repainted in these plain colors.

Continuing with our thread on undecorated kits, igGot another batch of cars done this week! Intermountain Railway 40' PS1 Boxcar with and 8' Door, one of a kind paint scheme for the Chicago Great Western. Painted with Flquil Maroon Paint and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Atlas 17,600 Gal Tank Car, painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with Islington Station Products Decals. Atlas 4650CF Covered Hopper, removed trough hatches and replaced with circular hatches (PITA as the trough hatch was glued in, why give you a choice of hatches and then glue in one of the choices). Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer White and lettered with Islington Station Products Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick J

Thanks for the compliments, guys. Lots of good stuff here. Those Milwaukee SD40-2s and the layout are impressive, carrman.

Carrman: Agree with RCH, those Milwaukee SD-40-2's, they look great on that layout. Really nice looking club layout. Bill

Oh yeah, Milwaukee is a home town favorite. I've never modeled MILW, but do like have it around in interchange. Here are a few pics of what I call the San Juan Zephyr, which is conceived of as a luxurious cruise train that operates over a still intact Narrow Gauge Circle, of which my layout represents a small part. The motive power is a Gemeinder Diesel. Produced by Liliput as a HOe(Hon30 or 9mm, N gauge), I added a Lenz Silver21+ decoder. Then I converted it to HOn3 and 714 couplers. It's been repainted in Rio Grande colors. For about $235, you end up with an excellent running HOn3 loco/with DCC. The RPO/Express is a repainted D+R model. The coaches are special run D+R painted for the Rio Grande, available from: www.trainstoysandhobbies.com/exclusive_products.htmBringing up the rear is my custom observation, lounge, and hot tub club car. It's custom bashed from a Micro-Trains HOn3 DB&W coal car and scrap box stuff, more tongue in cheek than the rest of the train. #82 cuts a fine figure headed upgrade to Rockwood.

Resurrected my SP GP38-2 the hard way. P2K starting point as a favor to help a friend of mine. Showed him the progress I was making, then he handed me his 2nd P2K GP38-2. What a swell friend I am! haha I thought It wouldn't be THAT bad going into this thinking just a few details to cover the basics. Well I couldn't get past the stock short tank and then the L window, then the messed up class lights, then rear number boards, then lack of an equipment box behind the traction motor cooling duct...etc etc. Still need to add the SP jacking pads to the sides. But here is true gluttony for punishment... No way to swap the stock cab out for Cannon due to P2K's dimensional errors?....no problem! This was the toughest part, removing parts of the front cab and concatenating them with parts of a cannon cab. Kids don't try this at home. Filed over the class lights will simulate them with the class light grommet decals 87-1343. Rear #boards flush, new equipment box, Q-fans, and I suppose new hand rails are in the future now too...lucky bastard Shorty stock fuel tank replaced by a cut down surpluss SD60 tank I had on hand...of course extra Cannon tank details applied along with Cannon air tanks. Stock versus cut/hacked/maimed P2K...going to do a HELM Speed Lettered lease geep out of the second I think. Once is enough for the SP style GP38-2 with a P2K thanks ChrisP

Selector; Always enjoyed your big steam shots on the Atlas forum. RCH; More of what has already been said, that SD40 is really coming out nicely. Double-Eagle...is that like "Double-Rainbow"? Tom + DTI, excellent freight cars. The BAR boxcar and the Georgia Kaolin are my faves. Shoofly...better you than I. I bought one of the Proto 38s when they first came out. I took it out of the box, looked at it, went ".....yyyyyyyyyyyeah...", and put it back in the box. But your work has helped hide what is otherwise a modern HO scale "flop". Is that toolbox behind the blower duct an Espee thing? And thanks to everyone else for sharing their work! Here is what I've been up to; It's an Atlas GP38 I re-numbered to 3809. I added Cannon fans, repainted a number of parts (like the inside of the cab, handrails, under frame, etc), replaced the MU hoses with DW, re-arranged the bell positions on the horn, added antenna, side-mount bell, speedo, fuel tank details, traction motor cables along the frame rails, etc. I then gave the unit some weathering, mostly in the form of slightly faded paint, and original B&O blue/yellow showing through some places based on pics/video. Only thing it's missing is new windshield wipers. -Jeffrey

It's definitely an SP thing. Keep in mind any rebuilt SD45, SD40, GP35 has them if you are modeling an ex SP rebuilt unit that has gone to another road, keep that in mind. ChrisP
