What are those conduits on the end of the FTs? They look way oversized. And no rear door to enter the car body?

Yes, very poorly done.

One of our very own (Mark) posted a useful photo on this forum: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/10543/emd-ft-locomotives?page=3The conduit and fittings are two different sizes, and not as clunky as on the back of the model. They're likely there to bring wires from one side of the loco to the other. It's odd they'd do the run on the exterior. I'm assuming the interior routing was way too much of a PITA. I do see that two of the radiator cooling fans are all the way to the rear--a radiator would have been below them, I think. On the plus side, most of us (all?) will be running our A's with a B attached, so the view will be limited. And the lack of a door in the end rather unimportant. NOT so for the other end of the B unit! If the rear of the A is the problem here, I can easily live with it. I am seriously wanting to run an FT set in 1970! Ed

I seem to recall that there were NO doors between drawbar connected FTA's and B's. But there was a diaphragm. The RDG FT photo referenced above shows that.
