I have to say it: The stick-on letterboards and name boards on those bilevels look lame. Glad it isn't a car I need.

Hey look a Middletown and New Jersey unit Yeah, I was hoping for either the Middletown & Unionville/New Jersey B/W early scheme or the red and gray 60’s paint. On the Rapido one sheet they also list some special runs including NKP.

My distributor is looking at some more special runs because the ones they did on the first run sold out almost instantly.
I am lobbying for Skaneatles Short Line (which also works for Lowville & Beaver River), working on getting some interest with the local club.
My guess is they can run these engines dozens of times as there's literally hundreds of paint schemes you can put on them, so if not this run then the next one.
The P32 and the coil car should both sell well unless they screw up something huge.

I just picked up Peter Brills book on the MNJ, maybe it can sell me on the blue and yellow scheme but I am also hoping to one day see a M&U unit.

The blue letterboards on the Metra cars really look strange on the ends. If you zoom in, you can see a trim piece that fits the grooves of the car side. The corrugations on this car are rectangular so its a bit difficult to see. The trim on the prototype is stainless, but Rapido painted theirs all blue so it's way more obvious. The nameplate also looks a bit thick, but that's probably just due to the limitations of injection molding. Check out this other image that shows another angle of the scalloped trim that's stainless steel: flic.kr/p/ELH2i7I don't think the design of the Rapido car is incorrect, I'd say it's closer to a painting error or a simplification for the sake of mass production.

The blue letterboards on the Metra cars really look strange on the ends. Its more obvious when seeing them in person rather than searching for photos online (in reality I am in town for the RPM show). There is a definite fillet (or scallop) shaped piece on the ends that fills in the gaps. The last photo is one of the 70s-era cars. That last photo is quite interesting because it appears there is a flat stainless panel with notched ribs on the end, and the ribs are bent inward to match the corrugations on the side of the car. The Metra signboard is a separate sheet of metal applied to the first panel.

Is it me or do the fronts if the p32 just seem to lack any dimension.. Like they just seem to perfectly flat.

Is there an ETA on the new run 44-tonners?
Edit: they say late next year.

The Greenbrier Transverse coil cars are much wanted by us modern modelers. Additionally, Linage and the Cryo-Trans cars are cars which have not been available, great for modern modelers.

Sunday, October 13, starting shortly before 10 p.m., EDT
There is a problem in Rapido Newsletter 193, as posted and emailed October 11. The link to the "catalog" for the newly announced additional paint schemes for the HO 1937 design boxcars doesn't work, and the link to order them doesn't show any of the new liveries except the SP one that doesn't appear to be new. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Looks like the exclusive roadnames have been chosen, at least they're in the computer -
Vermont Railway 1 Connecticut Company 0809 Nickel Plate Road 90 Omaha Lincoln & Beatrice 101
Interestingly Rapido has a page for a silent NKP 90 while the distributor website only shows a sound version.
