Older Athearn RTR NS SD50 Release Date?

I picked up an older Athearn RTR NS SD50 at the Timonium show this weekend and I'm trying to figure out when it was released. It's NS 5423 and the part number is 80984. I assume it's second hand, but it is in good shape.

I had some Athearn RTR SD50's at one time - I think they were released around 2012 or so.
