Jim to his credit did sidebar with me and address some of the issues I brought to him, but not all of the ones listed here. That is for each person to address on thier own. I look forward to a brighter future for Athearn if Horizon will allow it.

So, Mr. Wonderful, you don't want the job or can't do the job? Which is it? Ok. That may be asking too much from you. How about this. Let's see some of your work then. Put up or... I've been retired for 18 years, I am not working anywhere nor am I taking a mandate from some internet punk wanna be bully who would cower at a man in public but all of a sudden has testicles on the internet. I don't have to show you my work because you aren't entitled to it. I could have done absolutely zero in this hobby and I still have a right to publicly air requests to companies as a paying customer. I'm sorry you would prefer to live in China where no one has a voice, maybe you should move there. Do me a favor and go to the Athearn factory and see what the hold up is while you're moving in to your apartment. Half of me sees a post from Thmy/ST974 and wants to put him on "ignore". The other half wants to click on it and see what kind of crap he is flinging today.

Ok, fellow keyboard tough guy, I would say this directly to your face: You have not made one constructive contribution to this forum that I can find. Not one. Not one picture. Not one modeler question answered. Nothing. I challenge our fellow posters here to search one out. Every post is a gripe, complaining about this company and that. Every model manufacturer is run by morons, according to you, who has apparently never run a model manufacturer. It's boring. We all know now, that if your screen name is on the post, it should be ignored. I know I will. Hugs!

I'm sorry I guess I should bow at each booth of the next hobby show and put down several hundred dollars and ask them for whatever scraps they can come up with hoping it runs. That is the world you and a few others live in. But in the same breath, if it's a company you don't like it can be open season. Companies such as Bachmann can be attacked as much as you want because you and your crew have determined some are worthy of criticism, some are not and some are totally exempt. Do me a favor and ignore me all you wish if I don't have to further hear your fan boy gas lighting.

Simple enough. Purest form of democracy is to vote with your dollars. There are other companies to support with your resources or even other hobbies to pursue with them.
Unless your actual hobby is griping. In which case I request you find another venue for your entertainment...

I thought I could simply ignore the troll but I received this from him: "Maybe I should come down to [not quite my location] and see what your problem is tough guy? See if you want to get in my face then coward." This is the content of his character. Oh you mean I held you to account for picking a fight because you want complete brand loyalty? Yeah terrible character i have reminding you I'm a real person and you can be checked in person. I said the same thing essentially publicly so no news there.

Thousands of dollars worth. I'm sure it's a drop in the bucket to them so I also choose to air grievances. If no one did, ARF would have 1/4th the posts it currently has. But people want to pick on me like it wasn't toxic with everyone else way before me.

Hello Jim Wiggin--
Thank you for coming on here and responding to some of the concerns.
Please, please please get your artwork department, or whatever department it is, to focus on correct paint colors for the products. It is very frustrating to pre-order and then have to shell out lots of cash on models that are very incorrect in paint color (recent KCS red/green/yellow locos). I can't just "not pick up" something pre-ordered unless there is or would be significant damage or it doesn't run at all. Dealers eventually cut you off if you don't pickup pre-ordered items and they get stuck with them.
It does seem to me that various manufacturers are trying to kill the remaining brick and mortar dealers, as particularly the profit margin for the dealer on some high-end, big-ticket models has been reduced to the point my local dealer says he is only allowed to make 17% on some items, so he can't even give me 10% off. That won't pay the light bill. Then after placing pre-orders with him, I find some etailers offering the same models (if you place a deposit) at LESS cost than what my dealer can buy the said loco for when they get made (in the recent case, it is not an Athearn product, but that is just plain insulting). Various dealers have told me it's rather difficult to compete against Horizon, so at Timonium train shows, I just do not see much new Athearn for sale, but I do see plenty of other items from the other guys.

I have no more diesels pre-ordered either for my son or for me. Only steam power.

I like how we have had two Athearn employees give well thought out responses to some of the valid criticisms and have explained how their hands are tied in regards to certain aspects of the company, and we still have the same two problem children here telling them they're doing it all wrong. And people wonder why few MFGs want to participate in forums anymore.

11/16, starting about 7:45 p.m., EST
I do hope there will be some interesting announcements made at Train Fest.
I've been to Milwaukee at least twice and enjoyed some railroad-related sites (and sights) plus good German food there. However, I never got to see the Circus Parade connected with the museum in Baraboo when that was still being held, or to attend Train Fest. At this point in my life I may have a hard time getting to any of the Tour de Chooch layout open houses in Mass. and New Hampshire on any of the three days after Thanksgiving. I still hope to get to the Hub Division show for a few hours in early December and perhaps also to the West Springfield, MA, show on January 25 or 26.
