What are you expecting them to do about this? Really, even if they aren't going to do anything about it, they should reply saying that. Exactly. Many years ago, when the first run of Genesis GP9s came out, with the radiator grilles positioned wrongly, I wrote to Athearn about it, and they reacted within two days, saying nothing would/could be done. I wasn't happy with that, but at least they replied.

I know in the past they have had some email issues with their new system. I would try reaching out another time. They do have this on their contact us page: "Due to higher-than-normal order volumes and limited staff, shipping may take longer than usual. We are working hard to address the backlog and appreciate your patience. Please account for this delay when placing orders for Christmas." I do know they have a very small team, my guess is they are a bit buried with orders / service requests. Worst case you can always ping Jason directly. He's always been responsive when I've reached out with issues and questions. Jon, I never do F***Book, so no "pinging" for me. Over the course of almost six weeks (starting well before the onset of the Christmas shopping season), I wrote six, seven times to several addresses, without the slightest reaction... Rapido is taking the lack of respect for customers to a whole new level! I will not write again - I'm done them. I did not mention F***Book at all? I mentioned emailing Jason directly.

ping: (verb) send an electronic message to (someone). Ed That's my point. He could have meant text, tweet, IG, Facebook, email, AIM, Nextel, Skype, telegraph or whatever.

Newest email blast from them says replacements are being made. With instructions on how to claim your shell. And an update on the PE model coming.

Looks like a wide list of options. Just don't use the one you don't like. Seems obvious, though. But some of us missed that: "I never do F***Book, so no "pinging" for me." Ed

I'm sure that it will be costly on their part, but it's the right move. SP has a few different oranges and I see how they could be mixed up in a model train mass production environment.

What different oranges, other than Daylight/PFE orange and the darker orange used on some MOW highway trucks & MOW equipment like speeders? (Not sure of it's official name, Omaha Orange or motor car orange?)
I'm not aware of any orange other than Daylight/PFE used on any SP freight or passenger car or locomotive. It's also the orange used on "Black Widow" unit wings, "Halloween" units, Pacific Electric passenger equipment stripes PE Tiger Stripe locomotoves and PFE locomotives. The color was also used on some UP insulated box cars beginning around 1963. Rapido used the correct orange on the PAs, it's the same color so no excuse for the wrong color- which is more like a tan / delux gold / DRGW Aspen Yellow.
Tony Thompson on the orange:
I don't remember an alternate orange in my copy of the Southern Pacific Freight Car Painting and Lettering Guide, but the book is in storage so I can't check:

From Rapido News 195:
"Southern Pacific 44-Tonner Update
During our research for our HO scale Southern Pacific GE 44-Tonner locomotives, a color was suggested for the orange that was felt to be correct for the prototype locomotives. Upon release, it became apparent that this was too yellow and incorrect.
First off, we want to apologize to the customers who reached out to us by email. Our response time was not up to the standards our customers have come to expect from Rapido and we are taking steps to ensure this does not happen again.
Secondly, after discussions with the factory we have decided to produce a run of replacement shells alongside the new release of 44-ton models which will be coming mid-2025. These will be produced with an updated Daylight orange color chosen with the assistance of SP modelling experts. This updated color will also apply to the recently announced Pacific Electric models.
To get on the list for these replacements, please send an email with the subject line "SP 44-Tonner Shell" to trains@rapidotrains.com and include a photo of the box end label or proof of purchase along with your mailing address. Once these arrive, we will send them out at no charge, and you can keep your old SP 44-Tonner shell too. You will have to do the shell swap yourself; we will provide instructions on how to do this.
Again, we apologize both for the error and for the delay in getting this information out."

That’s good news. Better late than never, I guess.
