I don't have any clever titles, so let's just get straight to pictures. I haven't been able to get a whole lot of modeling done. My CNW heritage unit had been looking rather silly running solo, and I'm not really a fan of armor yellow, but I did manage to get my hands on a RTR model of CNW 8701. Here's a picture of them running together on the club layout. I've also got a blue box unnumbered unit that will be CNW 8646 so I'll have models of both of the last CNW painted units, although I'll have to clear a few other projects off the bench before I get to detailing them.

Finished up some cars last week! Athearn Chemical Tank Car, painted Scalecoat Ii White and lettered with Herald King Decals. Branchline GARX RBL where I removed the Plug Door and Replaced with an 8' Slider per an article in Railroad Model Journal. Painted with a mixture of Reading Green and Black Floquil Paint and lettered with the decals included in the Magazine with the article. As noted in the article the car was leased to a number of railroads including the GM&O, CB&Q, WAB, PRR, B&O and NYC. Mine is lettered for the PRR and I did a Wabash car a few years ago. The GAEX cars were a joint venture between General American and Evans to supply loader equiped cars for damage free shipping back in the 1950's, which is the reason for the XME designation on the cars. Intermountain Railway PS 4750CF Covered Hopper kit, assembled and then painted with Scalecoat II White and Black paints. Lettered with Herald King Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick J

I'm game. It's been a long day already for the guy from Mountain Bell... A coupler of Blackstone cabooses sit waiting from #469 to depart for Silverton. Two cabooses? There were actually three on this train, but that's a long story...and it was a long train, with 22 cars of freight. So it needed a brace of the road's most modern, DPU-equipped NW2M power. Our photographer caught the local over to Hesperus, where the scratchbuilt station represents my sole foray in contesting, taking a first place in the youth category (I was 16) in a contest in Germany in the early 1970s. A little the worse for wear, it does OK until a fancier replacement is built. His strange obsession with boxcars continues... Hesperus mines coal. A ride to Rockwood found things quiet, except for a single empty reefer sitting in the siding. People work hard at the saw mill in Rockwood. Then the workers often sooth the pain of another hard day down on what old wags call the "wrong side of the tracks." If you're a railfan, you know there is NO wrong side of the tracks.

The 1995 is the first Heritage unit that has the new flat box antenna system located on the cab roof. It received that box last year and the others will be getting the modifications soon. I hope someone offers this modification so I can add it to my 1995. Larry
