Hope everyone is having a relaxing summer weekend...and maybe devoting a little time to railroading. A meet at Rockwood. A 15-car freight leaving Durango to climb the Silverton Branch. Along the High Line (such as I had room for, river mostly not included ). I started a thread on building open loads. You're invited to show off yours: EZ to Complex -- Building Loads for Open CarsI'll be posting some pics of how I made this hay load in a moment.

Due to an infection on the middle finger of my right hand, I have not done any modeling since last week, so here are a few pictures of some ExactRail 4780CF Covered Hoppers that I did last year. An Erie Western car, with the correct shade of green on the stripe, versus the RTR car of the first run of cars. (Corrected on the second run of RTR cars.) Scalecoat II White with Herald King Decals. A Lousiana Midland Covered Hopper, not yet offered as a RTR. Painted with Scalecoat II White and lettered with Herald King Decals. A Dodge City Coop Covered Hoppper, from my research the only car decorated in this scheme. Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick

I've been slowly chipping away at this Mopac EV caboose project from the Atlas caboose. Still much to do, but the body is back together. It actually turned out square! That's a first for me.

Mike.....quite a "forest" on the mountain. I can't tell how many trees are real and if any are a photo backdrop. In any case, one impressive scene! Bob

Rick, Hope the finger heals quickly. I hate when that happens. Bob, There are somewhere around 7,000 trees on the layout. Most are bumpy chenille trees, including on the mountain in the pic. Individually, they don't look like much, but when you have a lot of them together, they look fabulous. Here's another similar scene on my Cascade Branch where they were used with similar effect.

Great start, guys! I love that MoP caboose - it looks like the one that ran behind my house that I grew up in. I've been fooling around the last few weeks running some longer than normal grain trains on my layout.
See here for a video of a run by of the train:

Very impressive everyone! Isn't today the 29th rather than the 27th?
