here is what i am working on currently. It's NJ Transits aqua train, which is used during the fall to blast leaf residue off the rails. It uses extremely high pressure water jets located under the flat car, followed by 2 tank cars for water and whatever diesel they have available. The tanks cars im building are walthers 16,000 gallon funnel flows that have been stripped of paint and parts. All seems have been sanded down and filled with putty then resanded smooth. Im hoping ot have plano etch kits for these tank cars. Here's the prototype (not my pictures) The model in progress. Tank cars Thought I had more pics of the tank car progress but I forgot to take more. I'll do it tomorrow. The flat car is a Bowser F30a flat car. i love those kits from walthers. I ended up doing so many that i got assembly down to under an hour for each hopper. That's about what I got my build times down to when I was doing a lot of them. It's been a few years and I'm a bit rusty, but once I get going I can really bang them out :-). I'll post some pics when there's some to be taken.

Proto shells are easy to strip. I used 91% isopropyl alcohol. It's interesting to see the color of the plastic underneath the P2K paint. I'm used to models being molded in light gray plastic, but underneath the primer coat of the "undecorated" PS 4427 hoppers I stripped, the body was gray but the detail parts were OD green or yellow. The plastic color seems to typically be matched to the primary color of the paint that will cover it. In the past I've stripped some of the proto SD60s. The NS shell is molded in black, the CSX stealth scheme had a darker gray hood assembly, with a dark blue walkway. I have a BN shell I plan on stripping, I wonder how that will come out :-)

Dave one of the other tank cars i tried to strip down has yellow moulded plastic parts for the details but is painted black to match the rest of the car. oh and 91% wouldn't even touch these tank car kits from walthers. it softened it enough that i could scrape it off , but it would not come off like athearns paint.
