I know many of you were taken by surprise at Atlas' decision to close their forums. Well, hopefully this forum can become a place that you all can call home as you once did the original Atlas Forum. I know it's different forum software, but I have tried to keep the format as true to its original form as possible. I may, at some point, add additional boards to fill specific needs, however, that junction is still far down the line.
Any forum is only as good or bad as it's members make it, so hopefully this one will retain, or gain a reputation similar to that of its former incarnation.
Thanks again for joining, and welcome!
Sincerely, Donnell Wells

Hello Donnell Saw your post over on the soon to be defunct Atlas forum and decided to give the place a look see. I agree about adding a crew lounge or something similar, Looking forward to see how it goes. Mike O.

As an aside, is there any way to have my name... Mike O. ... automatically added to my post when I reply, to keep from having to type it at the end of each post? I don't see a place in the profile section to add it.
Thanks,
Mike O.

Glad to see somebody try to keep the forum alive. I was a long time lurker and finally registered just a short time back. I don't post a lot as I kind of go in spurts on the computer. Been modeling U.P. for 55 years, mostly brass, but the new plastic stuff is sweet. Thank you Athearn, Atlas, IM, et al. Hope the new forum succeeds.

The question was asked on the old forum as to who would be the last to post. I'm showing Waldo on the O scale forum at 10:45:15, Ray Shofield on the HO forum at 11:18:25, and K2RRer on the N forum at 11:19:01.

Thanks for starting another forum. I tried joining the group formerly known as Atlas Forums, but never approved. I like all the knowledge/grumbles : ) people share. I will post as much as 2 kids and a wife will allow!

Hello Jim,
Wow! 18 years! It's kind of surreal that that forum has been around that long!

1 issue right away. The “button” text being white while residing on a light blue background (window bar?) and at such a small font size makes them almost unreadable. Hopefully this can be addressed.
With the disclaimers etc., does this mean all the Atlas forum archives are lost?

The white font has been changed to black. Also any of the colors can be changed to fit the needs of the group. Personally, I'm a simple guy. So the background color and graphics, though they look cool, and can be refreshing aren't that much of an issue to me. HOWEVER, if the concensous ever decides it would like to modify the forum colors, I say go for it! It's our forum!
Re: The Atlas Forum I'm not sure about the Atlas archives. As of today, you can still access the entire forum, just no posting obviously. You can always transplant topics from there to here. It may be a little work, but if it results in active discussion, I'd say the effort is warranted.

Well, the change to black is certainly appreciated, but perhaps I should have been more focused in that I meant to stipulate the BUTTONS and accompanying text used. Example would be right below “the Atlas Rescue Forum” <post message> but pretty much ALL buttons.

Yet another refugee from the Atlas Forum checking in! I was going to post a suggestion that somebody start a new Atlas Forum over on the Atlas Forum itself, but didn't find the time to do so!
I'm very glad somebody took the initiative and did what was much needed! I already see a number of familiar names in the members list! Lets keep it going!

Jim, I'd given thought to starting a forum that looks much like this one, but I didn't have a following, and felt that it would fall flat. Donnell proved me wrong, and I'm glad he did. I really appreciate your courage Donnell.
