Hello Group:
Like others, I stumbled across this forum during a Google search. Great to see so many familiar names back especially after Atlas pulled the plug on their forum! I too plan to do much more posting than I did on the old forums.
Thanks, Mark

The old forum was very helpful to me as an on-again off-again modeler for over 40 years. As I continue collecting in preparation for the ultimate RR I find the information here to be invaluable. I was sad to see the old forum go but am happy to have found this one.

I'm an old face that has a new user ID. I used to be australianterrier, with a nice photo of my dog Toto. Toto died a few days ago, he was just short of being 14 1/2 years of age. I still have two of his kids, litter mates Tommy(looks a lot like daddy) and Trudy(has daddy's spirit and spunk), who are 11 1/2 years old. Rounding out the herd is cousin Naomi at just short of 9 years of age.
I don't know if you can change your ID, I couldn't find a way, so I deleted myself. I told myself, when my first Aussie died, that I wouldn't become so attached to a dog, easier said than done and having a user id to help remind me of the dogs, wasn't helping. So I have become Babalooey. Baba Looey is the little Mexican burro and sidekick to Quick Draw McGraw(see avitar). I figure Baba Looey isn't going to die on me anytime soon, so I'm safe with this handle.
Oh, and my name is still Jim, but I've always joked around and called myself "Bubba". You can call anything, just don't call me late for dinner!

I remember your posts from the GN SDP45 thread. I've been wanting that model for a long time being a late '60's GN modeler. It was the last model I needed to have at least one of everything that GN had at merger. They'll look great on my Western Star.

I'm an old face that has a new user ID. I used to be australianterrier, with a nice photo of my dog Toto. SNIP Jim, My condolences on the loss of your faithful companion, Toto. We lost a longtime member of the household, Kuro the cat, this summer, so I know exactly where you're coming from in dealing with grief tinged with remembrances of happier times. I was actually missing you being around after seeing your posts under your previous screen name end, so was looking around the forum to see if there was any news of you. So I am relieved you're OK, just saddened by what has happened with your little friend. Looking forward to your voice here continuing to cheer us all (or most of us anyway )

Well, after a long time gone, I decided to rejoin a railroad forum. I was a very active member over at the Atlas Forum where I'd been a member since its inception. Over there I went by my real name: Bob Rupp-Kilgore. For a little bit I poked around on another forum, but it had a bazillion folders and subfolders so I never knew where to post/read. This forum looks a a little more streamlined and easy to navigate. I hope to start ramping up my posts as the fall train season is now upon us!
thanks!

Hi All, My first post here on the Atlas Rescue Forum, I'm an avid fan of the D&RGW in the 1970s and plan to model the area around Helper, Utah in HO Scale. In years past I've worked on the retail side of the Hobby Business, and have also written a few short articles for Mainline Modeler magazine. The past 15 years or so the model have taken a back seat to playing music, but of late I find myself really enjoying some time at my modelling desk, there's a lot of inspirational work here - Thanks! Best Regards, Mark Hills

Hello all, I am the new guy here. I have been modeling 40+ yrs. now and only gotten half good at it in the past three. I am an Ex member of the Rust Bucket for about oh... just 2 yrs. now and have been modeling hard just the same. I have given my own Forum a shot but it just was not meant to be I guess. So here I am, I need a home with a bunch of good people to share, learn from and maybe even offer a helpful hand if possible. I do my bench time on the weekends as not to anger the wife but I log in at least once a day to stay current the best I can. Thank you for having me aboard and I hope I can learn some new tricks and make some new friends. Scotty

Haven't been to this forum in about 18 months. Don't know why. Did I lose the link? I dunno, but I just came across it again and I am pleasantly surprised to see a decent level of HO scale participation, including a lot of former Atlas Forum users. Really miss that forum. Railwire, TrainBoard, and others have their niches, but nothing has replaced Atlas. Perhaps this board finally achieved its critical mass, enabling it to meet its mission... as the Atlas replacement.

Well, I just joined so I hope they aren't shutting this down too soon. I joined the old forum a few months before it closed. This site seems to be more free of the squabbles that took over the old one so much of the time. I live in Maine, work for a New England regional as senior freight agent for the last 17 years, but grew up in S Jersey-hence the PRSL caboose avatar. Not very active modeling right now, but, oh the plans!!! (Rdg/PRR/PC fictitious branchlines-some day!)

Another former Atlas refugee back from hiatus. My original BAD Western layout is no more, having gone to the great train room in the sky in preparation of a move. Since I'm designing our new home, I thought why not include a new layout? Now that I'm retired, I may actually have time to work on it.

Greetings! I'm a new member here just joining. I've been doing some posting over on the Model Railroad Hobbyist forums along with writing some articles for their magazine. I'm building my second layout in my 12' x 10' office / layout room that is around the wall. It is a freelance layout in the 1960's and 70's featuring the Louisville & Nashville RR. I currently have all of the track down and I'm working on scenery and structures. I'll do some operations to keep things interesting. I'm looking forward to learning from you guys! I do have a website on my previous and current layout at

Not being satisfied w/ the HO Atlas & Bachmann S-2/S-4 stacks to use on my Los Angeles Junction Ry ones, had some made by Shapeways. Doing some research into other RR ALCOs using non ALCO stacks found out D&RGW had LAJ like stacks. Shapeways making them in batches of 18 have plenty left over so email me at lajrmdlr@gmail.com if you'd like to buy some.

Hi Long time Lurker, first time Poster!
I'm a refugee from the old Atlas forum too . . .
Any replacement forum led by Donnell must be a good one! He seems like 'good people.'
Hey donnell, I heard a rumor that you work part-time at Milepost 38, is that true? I've never seen you there, but then again i'm not a frequent customer!
