Will we see a decrease in MR products cost to consumers? It should cost companies less to make the product correct? Yes, it probably will be a small savings to manufacture plastic. Will we see a decrease in price ?? Absolutely not, the amount of oil used in plastic to make a model train is fairly small. Have the airlines reduced fares since they are really making money with the low fuel prices. NO!! We have been told to not get used to it by the President recently and it has been speculated gas prices should be near $7 per gallon in political speeches to get us on par with the EU. This is being done by adding additional taxes to the already over taxed fuel prices. It started here in California this January as a carbon tax. They have now figured out that if we have any extra money, we might spend it on ourselves and that is not the new American Way. Another way of getting tax money for roads has been proposed. It has been said that electric cars do not pay road tax so it is being suggested than we should pay for the miles by an annual assessment by the state for the miles driven. I don't expect any breaks in prices for model trains except for blowout sales like TrainWorld offers now and then. Larry

I lived in California when Prop 13 was passed - thats been a long time. I was not a home owner at the time but I can imagine that helps! In New York state, I owned a house that was worth about 90k and the yearly property taxes were 4.5k it seemed pretty high! Yes, I got a break in the house tax in 1977, but they have found a way to erase most of that now. I now pay $5.6K property tax for the house I live in and it goes up each year. There has been an assault on Prop 13 lately blaming it for the budget problems here in California. Our taxes are lower per home than the 90K house you talked about but taxes on the home is always a large payment. Larry

It sounds like California is driving up the cost of living too much. It sounds a bit like England where my wife is from.
