Here's some progress on the MoPac cylindrical hopper from last week, now in it's as delivered glossy Light Gray, showing the large Buzzsaw herald, a '60s classic! Now for the fun part, weathering it! Did you use the Plano flexi flow kit for the end mods...on the MP ACF? Yes, and the one for ACF 3700 cars. I cut the roof walk ends short. The big difference is the risers for the roof walk, they are a simple design on the MoPac car, more complex on the standard ACF 3700.

John, Outstanding work on the tower inside scene! Mike, Didn't know that their was a Crater Lake CO. I'll have to look that one up. Was the branch real and did the RG call it the Cascade branch? BTW... Don't tell the UP about how you remove snow from the row. They might get jealous ! Lol... Jl JL, There's a lake, but no town AFAIK. It's a location sorta northwest from Tefft on the Silverton Branch. There is no railroad there either, totally my own invention, presuming that a line was surveyed up Cascade Creek to access lumber, stone, and other resources. The rest of my layout is based on often rather fictionalized actual locations that had rail service. The Cascade Branch broke out of that box for two reasons. First, I needed to spread my operator out more. 6 is about max, and even 4 could seem crowded in my primary aisle, which is where everyone showed up it seems. This line goes into the next room and wanders around until it gets to Crater Lake. An ops session in about 10 days will prove that concept, one way or another. It also allowed me to bring in traffic from out parts of the narrowgauge system. I'd already done this to a certain extent on the main part of the layout, but this allowed me to include logging, stone, and -- eventually - oil, plus other stuff like more stock shipping locations. I've got a lengthy build thread on it over at the MR Forum: cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/219241.aspx?page=1

Here is a late addition to the SPF thread... I got this ER model about 2 years ago from Bob the Train Guy at the Marion RPM meet. I liked the PRR scheme it had, but looking thru photos to find a picture to use for weathering the car, I came across the class car - patched for PC. SO, I weathered the car, and then masked out the patches, and painted with PC HS scalecoat2 PC green, and then used decals I bought from Rail Yard Models to restencile the car for PC. It needs a little more work, as I need to patch out the new date, but is mostly done. Regards, Brian

Brian, by the time of the Conrail takeover many of the Magor cars had similar PC patches. Yours looks really good. Nice base weathering job. Bill
