I have some turnouts that are not reachable from the operating isle so I had to set them up with switch machines. The Peco didn't work here for this purpose so I subsituted Atlas above ground switch machines along with a Peco CDU to prevent burnout of the twin coils. I had to create my own linkage.

Since I couldn't figure out how to get the PR4 working, I switched to the layout.

Layout is on my my workbench. With cardboard strips to create basic landforms past week and today covered it with plaster gauze. First before getting messy, masking tape down. Next will cover it was a layer of plaster over the plaster gauze.

Try drywall joint compound. Available in a variety of settinng times, or pre-mixed in tubs. Cheap.
Get some flexible plastic putty / drywall knives or my favorite the flexible plastic applicators intended for fiberglass resin work.
Apply & come back 15 min later & lay on another layer. Easy to sand & carve too.

Already have drywall mud and knives. I did all the drywall in this basement. I used it on the river bed. If it is carvable I'll use it to make rock strata in this area.

Spent today laying track for the coal mine: That's all I can fit in the area.
