First you get it smokin'... Then you get a couple of passenger cars and get things rollin'... Live steam is a somewhat different approach to operations, one with an air of authenticity often missing under a roof. Anyway, more on our local division's layout visit -- and a video I hope -- available over here, since we don't have a Live Steam sub-forum: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/3838/little-live-steam-starring-hudsonMeanwhile, back indoors, a little action on the Rio Grande at Hesperus... And the yard at Dove Creek.

Here's a little project I've been working on. I started with a Malibu Reel Rides short bed C10, cast it in resin, bashed it into a long bed, then re cast it in resin. I then designed a photo etch for it. They'll make for a pretty auto rack load someday.

Nice work this week guys! Here's some random shots from a couple weeks ago, it was a slightly cloudy morning so a bit softer light on the models. An Exactrail GN Magor hopper. Part of the Ford pool...... And a close up of one of my 3 Athearn SD45s weathered up.

Here's the latest addition to the fleet: CSXT 2619. I must say that Athearn did a really nice job on these GP38-2s. My only complaint is the ditch light housing is too thick. The reason is so bulbs will fit in them. Seen here helping 7551 run a southbound trailer train. And another angle. I seem to be on a standard cab kick. One of these days, I'll get some bigger road power done. In the mean time, the crews will have to make due with 4 axle power. Enjoy, -Dave

Nice photos everyone. Mike, enjoy your standard gauge D&RGW action. John, awesome pickup truck! Rick, PC in action looks great.
Mark, 70's era Grande and rolling stock is spot on! Steve, is that a lobotomized SD45 in progress? Dave, enjoyed the TOFC action on the CSX!

Rick J The models are dirtier than what they seem. Cell phone photo + dark basement =/= the best photos. The real locos are not too bad in the era that I'm modeling 2619 7551 But, your right Rick. In fact, that's one of the things I like about CSX. The dirt and rust on their equipment gives each loco a different look. -Dave

Rick, unless just delievered,Your PC units are waaaay tooo shiney !! Spikre A common misconception, these were old PRR units that received new paint after the merger and most locomotives or cars were in pretty good shape paint wise as PC only lasted 8 years and they had either brand new cars and locomotives or recently repainted cars and locomotives. They did not start looking grungy until the Clownrail days! Rick J

Rick, the PC stuff in NJ was grimey, but not SP rust and burned nasty. to see good looking PC equipment a trip to Harmen-Croton was needed, NYC E7s still looked good compared to the PRR units on the NY&LB. but after 1973 even the ex-NYC stuff was getting grungy looking, PRR stuff was rolling junk,NH stuff was OK if shopped, but really grungy if still in NH paint. that's from travels around NJ,NY,RI,CT,and PA.. didn't get past NY or Pa, too often. and would mainly be looking for EL on trips,PC was secondary. Nice photos everyone. Steve, is that a lobotomized SD45 in progress? Kinda sorta. It is an SD45 that has had plastic surgery done by the cosmetology group of Charles, Wonder and Keller. Its almost done. I have no work bench, aka my former dining room table in my old apartment here in my mothers house. I dont think she'd take to kindly to me setting up shop on her dinging room table. Plus I dont trust her idiot dogs around my stuff.
