Well, hopefully the projects Athearn has coming in the next 4 or 5 months will still see the light of day. I could live without more tunnel motors but would like some SD40's.

Larry--you don't see many electric cars outside of California. Let's hope they don't impose a tax on model railroads.

Jim And the reason you don't see them on the roads is they cost way more than regular cars and the extension cords are hard to pick up on the way to Salt Lake City!!! The Cad ELR is being discounted $20,000 and still do not sell. It is a fancy version of the overpriced Volt which has a small motor vibrating away. If good old Jerry thought he could get a transportation tax on model railroads, we would probably start getting bills every month. Larry

Larry-the top selling car in CA is the Prius. Outside of CA, you hardly see any Prius'. I am told that there are several charging stations for Teslas, etc. on I-5 in CA. We'll see when I drive up to Portland this weekend.

I live in a Midwest Big 10 university community and the place is thick with Prius of various models. I'm waiting for the Prius SUV -- or the reinvention the the RAV4 electric as a hybrid -- and a job to make payments, of course. In the meantime, the LandCruiser is paid for, even though it's a bit of a gas hog around town. I can get 17 mpg at 70 with the A/C on the flat, so things could be worse. Every tool has its place.

When we got our Prius we were told the all electric Prius was not an option, they never get our of CA, on the other hand we have a Texla charging station at our local shopping center, when we went to Outback a couple of weeks ago there were four Teslas charging there. SNIP When we got our Prius we were told the all electric Prius was not an option... SNIP Rick, I'm pretty sure the Prius doesn't have enough room for batteries to be an EV, at least with current technology. The range would be too short. What is new, IIRC, is that Toyota is finally going to offer (or already is) a "plug-in hybrid." This allows the batteries to be topped up on the grid. That way it can do short runs in mostly electric mode, minimizing how often the engine starts.
