Oh my, and people think the Model Railroading hobby is expensive! Race cars and boats, I bet you can sink some major cash into that! I can barely afford my trains!

Oh my, and people think the Model Railroading hobby is expensive! Race cars and boats, I bet you can sink some major cash into that! I can barely afford my trains! I hear ya Jim, but in all reality, the cost to me is not an issue. Let me explain that better.... While you are certainly 100% correct in that both of these activities are VERY expensive, I am very blessed in that the high speed boating is with my brother, on his powerboat. I am extremely fortunate to be included in it and lucky to be invited to be his co-pilot! I may spring for motels if we are out of town, but we usually fight over who gets to pay. LOL. As for the race car, I drive for a friend that has multiple race cars. There are running expenses, like $11/gallon race fuel and $450 slicks, but he built and owns the car, along with several others. We've been friends for over 30 years, and his wife and his three daughters also race with us. ( I think he's got 7 race cars, including a "spare" if any are broken down at the time! ) Like I've said, I am very blessed, and fully appreciate all of the opportunities I've been able to participate in.

I collect and build firearms and work on my Camaro when I am not enjoying model trains.

Since '97 I've played in punk rock bands. They tend to lean towards the Rock 'n' Roll side of the spectrum. My first band was moderately serious and we toured the US for 4 years and put out a few records. Since marriage and kids, they've been closer to a hobby. Until this year, I've usually just been the singer/songwriter. In my most recent band, I'm playing rhythm guitar and sing about a quarter of the songs.

I yousta walk and or ride a bike for hours and hours till the knees gave up, now I hop on the scooter and cruise around town getting an AWESOME adrenaline fix dodging traffic! Did not trod any goat paths in Afghanistan but I HAVE tip-toed thru the minefields in the D.M.Z. in Korea and played 'hide and seek' with the N.K.S.F.!
