I have seen these now and actually broke down at purchased 2, an ICG and a Pillsbury. The cars are that nice. I do not see how anything could be improved on them. Not cheap, but these cars are great. I set them next to Intermountain Cars and the think that immediately looks better is the paint. Much truer colors and better coverage. The other area that is nicer is the end cages. No more of these for me for awhile (maybe in the next run). And they are not out their in massive amounts so if you are interested in them you may wish to find them.

If you bought two 4750, you should buy at least one shorter 4000. It is something that Intermountain never did. Ciao. Raffaele

I've been fiddling with an undecorated kit (I'm filling in the notches at the bottom of the side posts to model a CSX car), and I'm amazed by how many different parts there are to model the different prototype variations. There are three different styles of end walls alone (the vertical wall under the sloped ends).
I noticed the ICG cars are sold out on his website already, as are the undecorated kits.

I haven't built any of the Tangent 4750 kits, but the 4740 is my favorite kit so far. I'm sure when I finally acquire some of the 4750s I won't be disappointed.

I ended up with 4 cars, a PC, a GTW, and two ICG's. They are beautiful cars. Not cheap, but the detail on the ends is amazingly well done, as is the paint and lettering. Like RCH, my previous favorite model was the Tangent 4740, but now it is a toss up. Both are extremely well done cars. With the pricing on recent Athearn releases, I really can't say they are all that expensive. Now I wish I didn't have so many of the Intermountain versions.
One lesson with Tangent, if you think you are going to want a model, get it early, they sell out quick. I had to dig for the two Orange ones on Ebay. Bill

I wouldn't mind trying one or two of these cars some time - would like to have 6 or 8 of the orange D&RGW but those are long sold out so nothing there now that I must have. They do look nice!

Like RCH, my previous favorite model was the Tangent 4740, but now it is a toss up. Both are extremely well done cars. I love the PS 4740 model, but I need about ten 4750s for every 4740 in my fleet. Both are fantastic models though. I just received the PDF of the PS 4750 kit instructions from Tangent, and I'm amazed how many detail variations are incorporated into this model. It's going to take a bit of photo research, but I'll be able to exactly match the ex-B&O HC-32 class car that I'm modeling: CSXT 254174: drolsen.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?id=753672As an example, the kit even includes early and late jacking pad plates, with and without AEI tags mounted. I think this may be the first HO model that actually includes the AEI tags that are present on every car now. Dave

Dave: I have to say the 4750 is truly an amazing model. I was skeptical when it was first announced that it was going to different enough to be of interest. But I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my first two. They were a lot nicer than than I expected. The Intermountain car is a bit dated, but we have to remember the Intermountain car was ground breaking when it was introduced 19 years ago. Its about the same vintage as the Accurail ACF 4600, and orders of magnitude nicer. Lets hope David eventually offers the PS-4750 in the later 1990's Trinity variant. I could go for a bunch of green BN ones, they has thousands. I believe CSX had of bunch of them also.

I elected to get the full PC set and agree that like all the Tangent products I've bought, these are done extremely well. I noted that the walkways are not the least bit warped - excellent!.....

Lets hope David eventually offers the PS-4750 in the later 1990's Trinity variant. I could go for a bunch of green BN ones, they has thousands. I believe CSX had of bunch of them also. Definitely - CSX received 2,000 Trinity Greenville 4750s, CSXT 259000-260999, that were built in 1988-89: CSXT 259996: drolsen.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=315424I'd really need someone to show me how they are different from the P-S built cars - I think it's just some minor details, such as the roofwalk design, that would allow them to be modeled with the current Tangent body. There is also the older Trinity design with the rounded roof that provides an interesting visual difference - CSX had only 100 of these though, CSXT (SBD) 252559-252658 (originally SCL 243825-243924): CSXT 252595: drolsen.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?id=426988I'm all for additional 4750 designs, although I'd definitely like to see the first one (Trinity Greenville) that I mentioned, since CSX had so many. I purchased mumble..mumble of this first release. I've been an HO modeler for 25+ years and although I've been tempted many-o-times to purchase some of the IM PS 4750 hoppers, I've always come back to to reality before pulling the trigger.
I'm not sure how long before David will be doing another release, but I hope we get a nice surprise about Trainfest time in November with an announcement of 24 Soo Line numbers.
(BTW, If my wife happens to see this, mumble..mumble is model railroader speak for 2 cars. They just send them out in the big boxes to keep them from getting damaged. Really, honey.)
