Good Afternoon to all the Forum Folks. Looks like a brunch/light lunch is on order for today. Sandwiches, chips 'n dip, and a heavy h'orderves (sp?) platter should get you through till dinner. Been working on Admin paperwork all morning long and headed to the house, shortly, for lunch. I'll be here till after 6:00 and Adam will need to be picked up from work around 10 or 11 tonight. I'm hoping to get out back and run a train or two this evening or tomorrow. Made 4 vehicle trips from the house yesterday, between playing taxi or running errands and shopping. I also managed to squeeze in a 7 mile bike ride before it got too hot. The 3rd trip was back to the plant nursery for more plants that LD wanted to pick up. They only had one uncut whiskey barrel left and I continued to ask myself if I really wanted to spend almost $100.00 for it. LD (my wife) looked at me and said, if you were at the hobby shop, you wouldn't think twice about spending $100.00 on trains...... That clinched it!! I now have a used, Jack Daniels whiskey barrel setting at the front corner of my train building with a few RR spikes lying on top. I took some pics but haven't uploaded 'em yet. I'll try to do that before Sunday night. As you stand near the thing, you can still smell the whiskey. Hoping everyone is having a good day,

I'm planning a somewhat lazy day today. I pushed myself yesterday on the MRI trailer build, or more specifically, the drafting portion. When that's done, I still have to convert everything to 1/24 scale. I'm taking a break, and I'll run some trains today, and maybe do some scenery. I've got a couple of friends coming over later and we'll have a little jam session. I hope things stay as relaxed as I'm planning.

Is there any late night service? I could really use a ham and turkey on wheat, and a ginger ale...

Good morning. I hope it's not going to be one of those days... The power was out when I got up this morning, so I had to get the laptop out to surf the 'net. I still wasn't awake, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get online... Then I remembered cable modems generally require power. So, I went out and fired up the generator, and started a pot of coffee. The coffee got done about the time the power came back on, so I turned off the genny and sat down with my laptop and cup of Joe--promptly spilled a steaming cup of coffee in my lap --I'm just glad it wasn't into the keyboard of my laptop. So, I thought I would come in to the lounge and get a cup of coffee here. Please disregard the stain on the front of my pants, I really am potty trained...

Good Morning Terry and the rest of the Forum Folks. Terry, I wouldn't worry bout the stain. I doubt anyone's awake enough yet, to notice. I'll get breakfast going.....The coffee is hot and fresh. There's a pitcher of sweet & unsweet tea for those in the heat. Fried egg sandwiches are the special, but order up what you'd like. The bacon, sausages and ham slices are frying on the grill and the pans of oatmeal and grits are on the stove. The cereals, biscuits and donuts are on the counter, as is a bowl of fresh fruits. The milks, juices and canned drinks are in the cooler. Managed to accomplish a few more things at work, before finally calling it a WEEK!! Spent the late afternoon helping LD re-plant a few things and get them hung back on the porch. Did a bit of rearranging in the back yard, too. The sun's out today, temps will be mild, as in the mid-70's and I'll be mowing the lawn shortly. Adam gets to do the weed whacking. Then I should be able to get to the trains for a bit. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Day everybody. It's cool and rainy today. It sounds like a good time to jam on the guitar for awhile and then go spend some time in the train room.

Good morning. We need to talk to the janitor about leaving a light or two on when he's done. I just fell over a chair... Anyway, I dug out my old MRC 1300 and hooked it up to the track last night. The Climax runs pretty good, though it has an occasional "click" and the locomotive lurches when it clicks. Kind of like a gear catching out of sync. I ran it for a while, then lubed the gears, then ran it some more. It does seem to be better now, though will still click once in a while, more when backing up than going forward. It is pretty slow, too...

Good Morning Terry and the rest of the Forum folks.
Terry, if your Climax has "gears" similar to a diesel, you might have a cracked gear somewhere in the drivetrain. Just something you might want to look into.
As it's late morning here in Southeastern, NC, the bacons, sausages and ham slices are stacked and warming on the grill. The eggs can still be cooked to order. Grits & oatmeal don't "age" well on the stove. Coffee is always fresh brewed. Like to keep a couple pots going all day long. The drinks are in the cooler.
On/off sun/clouds this morning. The winds are out of the NNE and temps might make it to 75F. A low pressure system hanging around offshore will bring us a very good chance of rain, tomorrow. The part-timer scheduled for today called me last evening and told me he COULD work, so that was good news!! We'll do the shopping today when we take Adam to work. I did get out back last night and ran 3 trains again. Not that I'll be operating in such a fashion, but I repeated running the 2 Eastbound trains with the Westbound taking the sidings, several times. Not sure what I'll do today. I may drag out all the blue painted background pieces I had at the layout's previous location and see what can be salvaged and attached to the walls. As I'm working tomorrow afternoon, I want to get all my "fun" in, today.
Hope that everyone has a good day.

Good Day everybody.
Last night was a "milestone" in the MRI trailer build. I hit 100 hours on it. Most of the measuring and drafting is done, but now I'm in the midst of transferring measurements from full scale to 1/24th scale. This thing is worse than a Queen Anne house!
I did take some time and work on some scenery around the yard on the layout. I've also decided that I'm going to place another bridge over the yard, into the large city. It will be for bicycle/pedestrian traffic.
Right now I hear my guitars calling me for awhile, and then it's back to work.

Douglas, having three differnt things to do can certainly break up any "monotony" you might suffer from just dealing with just one thing, in your free time.
Would like to see some pics of the MRI trailer build, once you get started on construction.

I was out early today after a light breakfast type snack, (three small cookies) and spent all day watching trains west of Roseville since one of the UP Heritage units was on the LA to Portland train. The computer trace showed it arriving and leaving Roseville but it never showed on the main into Roseville. Sometimes when things are a mess in Roseville, the UP sends the Z train up the Old WP tracks via Sacramento and the computer trace did not catch that. Anyway, it is late evening and I am back home having seen a lot of other trains but missed the 1989 today, which by the way was not leading the train so not much is lost!!!! I will eat my dinner at five PM or so and I had fun day watching trains. All the talk about food is good but I missed out today! I will get my order in sooner next time! Larry
