Not to continue to beat the pbase drum...
Pbase.com allows you to upload multiple photos at once. Simply group the photos in a zip file and upload it at once. I make a zip file for each unique gallery I add. It is easy to move or even copy photos from one gallery to another or have the photos exist in multiple galleries. Resequencing photos or editing photo titles within a gallery is also easy.

The hardest part will be editing old posts to point to the new versions of the images. I suspect most won't get done

tim, no doubt the net will be peppered with images of broken pb links. It took a while to update pge 2 of my layout progress thread and it went fairly quickly cause those photos were on my phone.
I thought I'd see of I could pull the other photos from my pb account. Fail. Sure I could ser my photos but when I click on one to see the full sized version to download the page would never load. I tried a number of times and gave up. Good riddence. pb was always difficult to us so I wont miss it, piece of steaming ...

This is why it's worth it for forums to pay the extra for file storage.

Right out of Donnell's pocket. I'm not so sure that his pockets are particularly deep when it comes to the amount of photos that this forum has/had. Not at all, there are many ways to fund it. Having a premium membership that allows photo uploading would've paid for it with very minimal expense to each user, maybe only one or two dollars per month. Or alternatively you could do an annual donation drive and raise the money that way. We already spend a lot on our hobby, what's a couple bucks more to have a place to post photos that won't suddenly evaporate one day? Image hosting services come and go over time as we've seen, and when they do a lot of long-standing forums cease to be relevant because a large part of the content effectively gets wiped. This isn't the first time this has happened; fotopic.net was another big railroad photo host that shut down suddenly back in 2011. That killed a lot of forums and websites because they relied on the images as a big part of their content but were unwilling/unable to pay for dedicated hosting. This photobucket problem is simply history repeating itself.

Doesn't Fallen Flags do something similar to help fund the website to keep it ad free? I know I've seen a donation setup on there at one time or another for, I believe, that very reason. I remember a link to the people that donated and there were some recognizable names on it, one being Atlas. I don't think that this would really be all that bad of an idea.

I have seen forums come and go over time. Hosting pictures on this forum won't guarantee they will be here any longer than hosting them on an image hosting service.

I was going to suggest using Dropbox as an alternative for hosting/posting photos, but that feature no longer works. Seems like a lot of online content host providers are moving away from this. Probably a whole lot easier at this point to just add photos to my website and link them here.

Between Photobucket screwing us, Flickr not letting me log in, and the forum out of attachment space, I'm about out of options.

Ultimately we may run out of options but I created a Imgur account and so far that one has been working for me; actually it is better than Photobucket which was extremely laggy for me and all photo's from that host were blocked at work, while Imgur hosted photo's are not blocked. I probably should have left Photobucket 3 or 4 years ago but I was lazy.
