Wondering how many folks use the old Atlas forum for info and instruction?. I find it very helpfull and often wonder where some of those guys are now forum wise. Of course many of the old names are here. This forum is starting to get busy and informative . With the number of forum options out there i am certainly glad this one has taken off in a positive manner. Steve

Steve, I rarely go there specifically, but I often end up there, because it still ranks pretty well in Google searches. That still brings in page views for Atlas, plus possibly following links to onto the main Atlas site. Hopefully, that's good incentive for Atlas to continue maintaining the archive.

Steve -
I second your thoughts. It was a bit slow in the beginning but this forum is growing in membership and posts each day. As word get out I am confident that this place can only get better. So far, I have not seen any flame throwing and trolling. Let's hope that stays away forever.

I go to the old forum for research. I'm glad Atlas is keeping it up, though I still have the long term complaint/problem of occasional search timeouts.

I would go there to look at photos of models that people did, and stuff like that. There are some exceptional model photos to be found--even of stuff that might have been but wasn't.
Some of the topics and conversations over there...I would prefer to forget ever happened, so I ignore them.

In certain cases I've found posts or threads to be a good reference and have book marked them. There have been discussion about certain freight cars - prototypical matches or info on how to do things etc.

One could email some people and invite them here. Many may not know it exists. Just a thought if you know their email addresses......

John If you have a thread on the Atlas forum that is particularly interesting, you might do a capture and make either a Powerpoint file or MS Word file with all the parts of the thread pasted in and saved. There is no guarantee that the archived forum will be there forever.

Atlas was around long enough to rank pretty high in google. A lot of times if I google for a photo of something, I'll get a link to Atlas. In fact just today, I had the amusing thought about MTH's slogan and thought "HO Model Trains That Cost More". I wondered if anyone else had ever thought of that phrasing, so I googled it. Seems someone else did think of it two years ago... me I found a post in Atlas where I coined the phrase, apparently. One thing about my brain is that it tends to keep going to the same place even if I forget I've been there before. That feeling I get when I go through my books and find two copies of the Alco Company Photos book...one still in the shrink wrap. Andy
