Or maybe the modeler simply died. It does happen, and more than we like to think about. We had that happen to a group of us that belong to a small forum, the go-to dealer for many on the forum passed away leaving several folks with lost $$ due to "trust" he'd built up and they had 'invested' in pre-orders with cash up front. His relatives were not too cooperative as they didn't know anything about what he had going business wise. Karl,If that dealer is who I think it is I lost a small order I paid for just before his demise that was never shipped..After reading about his death I cut my losses and moved on..Thankfully it wasn't a large amount.

Most likely, you were part of that lil ole forum for a long time. I was not waiting for anything. Luckily

Go to a show and walk around and look at the dealers. None of them are kids. A couple of guys who did a lot of the shows up here passed away in the last couple years. One right out of the blue. I'm no kid and I may be about the youngest guy doing this. If the hobby dies, it's because the hobbyists all died first. The last few guys are going to have a field day with everyone else's estates, though.

FWIW, I go to Batavia, a little one day show halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, and I sell more than I did at Syracuse by a bunch, up even over last year's fall show there.

Spoke this afternoon with some of the MRH Magazine folks who reported that Trainfest was loaded with young folks, their kids and lots of them. Crowds of claustrophobic proportions Saturday.

I spent some time in Brockport out that way years ago. I recall a hobby shop thère where I saw my first RTR Intermounrain freight car. I bought an old Walthers FGE box car that had been assembled from a flat part kit, pretty decent box car and still have it and posted a photo some months back.
