OK, using LOKProgrammer/LOK Tester. Have a Select Direct loaded with sound file 75868. "Regular" sounds (horn, etc) play just fine. I'm trying to get the "random" sounds to play, but no success. Have CV 61,62 set to some shorter values as the default values did play. Still no good. CV 451 volume is set to max. Do I have to go into each sound slot and change from defaults??? Has me stumped. Thanks. Bob

You can't manually activate the random sounds. "Random Sounds" is their own sound slot and have nothing to do with the other individual sound slots.
The default value for minimum and maximum distance is 18s and 52s. What that means is the random sounds will play sometime between 18 and 52 seconds apart via a random timer between those two values. CV61 should always have a lower value than CV62 - even if just by one point.
I honestly don't know what sounds are in the random sound slot as they aren't accessible in the Select version, but you should be able to hear them in between the two give points you have selected in CVs 61 and 62.

Mark, thanks for the reply. I'm not hearing any "random" sound (pop off, compressor, etc). I'm wondering if the SELECT even supports those as I just noticed the "random sounds" slot is greyed out.

Possibly your download was corrupted ? I just checked the file myself and the random sounds are not grayed out. (?)

OK, reloaded the sound file and sound slot for "random" sound is available. BUT still can not get the "random" sounds to play automatically. I can play the individual sounds by their respective F key (F18, F19, etc). Everything looks to be set correctly. I even set the interval values to 6 and 12. I'm at a loss for what to try next.

I inspected the sound schedule and the only two sounds in the random file are the radiator and the compressor. You originally said the random sounds play at their default values .... do they still play at their defaults ?

Mark, thanks. I mis-spoke in the original post. The sounds did NOT play at default values. (I should proof read my posts better )
This is frustrating as I had no problems with this on a V4.0 sound chip.
