I read in this evening's news that new tariffs of 10% (rising to 25% January 1, 2019) are being applied to goods from China.
Does anyone know if/how this might impact model railroad products?

I have spoken to our Rep at one of the big distributors and he did NOT feel that model trains were caught in that net. He promised to check further and get back to me. If I receive a different response I'll post here.
I also asked a friend who's manufacturing of model trains takes place in China and he advised that his shipping company did not include model trains in a recent tariff notice they sent him.
So it appears that they are excluded for now. cheers Dave

That's good to know..
A personal thought.
I shudder just thinking about paying $70.00 or more for a freight car and at those prices even the use freight cat market prices would escalate.
$30.00 for a used BB car any one?

$30.00 for a used BB car any one? No! But most blue box rolling stock is secondary market; yeah, I know people think since everything else has gone up they can raise prices on 20-40 year old blue box freight cars. They can do that of course but good luck getting buyers! *chirp chirp*

Just to double check look at the cost of product at Canadian retailers and compare. I know of companies (not MRR companies) in the U.S. sneaking product from China "in the back door" through Canada and avoiding the tax/tariff.
