Thousands of pounds worth of model railway exhibits have been destroyed in an act of "total wanton destruction".

Market Deeping Model Railway Club lost years of work in the raid at Welland Academy in Stamford on Saturday.

Its chairman Peter Davies, 70, said exhibits were smashed, thrown around and stamped on, including a locomotive unit worth about £8,500.

Four youths have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage.

SO happy that the worthless little punks were caught, I do hope they get LOTS more than just a slap on the hand.

And someone has stepped up to help fund the rebuilding, none other than Sir Rod Stewart ...

It's been posted about every where else. so much so, I'd forgotten it wasn't posted at ARF. At MRH, the topic has run a few pages and then logged by the admin.

My wife is from England and immigrated here in 2011. Since then I have followed UK news more closely and noticed that they seem to be soft on punishing criminals. To use a Monty Python term, they get the soft pillow, sadly.

It was pretty disturbing to see the sheer amount of damage done by these punks. But based on my observations of British jurisprudence, the judge will likely slap them on the wrist, tell them not to be naughty anymore and let them go.

All to sadly this is one of the reasons model railroad clubs goes private. Its a sad state to see this happening.. One of my simple hobby joys over the years was to visit HO clubs in various Ohio cities..


While in the Army I had the pleasure to visit clubs in New Jersey, Kentucky and one in Philadelphia, Pa that was located in a former Reading station. I also visited a HO club in Germany.
