Sorry, no Railbox here, but I plan on doing some in the future. I did manage to get something done this week. The first model I completed this week is an Eastern Car Works Northeastern Style Caboose that I acquired semi finished on E-Bay, I fixed the broken parts and completed the kit, then painted it with Scalecoat II PRR Caboose Red and lettered it with Herald King decals. This was one of many paint schemes applied to the Lehigh Valley Cabooses, just like their motive power. Moving on to the late 70's, an Athearn FMC 60' Hi Cube Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II B&M Blue Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. I could not find a lot on these cars that belonged to the Arkanas Lousiana Missouri Railroad but at one time Georgia Pacific Lumber was the owner and I believe they may have been in paper service on the railroad. Numerous railroads used the 60' boxcars in paper service. A pair of Athearn GP9's with a mixed freight on the Stongsville Club layout. Thanks for all the nice comments from last week. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

I'll play.... No plate C Railbox cars for me....all plate F at the moment. TBOX 660491. Athearn Genesis model, not totally correct for the prototype (wrong number of ribs). Both sides copied from the prototype 660491. FBOX 504593. Exactrail model. First side copied from the prototype 504593, the other side was copied from a sister car. FBOX 505234. Exactrail model. Both sides copied from the prototype 505234. -Kevin

There goes Kevin posting prototype photos again!
Really excellent photos and modeling! How did you model the air hoses and brackets on the FBOX? Yours look really good, that's a detail set that's really needed. I could use many!

Incredible job, Kevin. I had to zoom way in to be sure these were actually models and not the real thing. The only thing giving it away is the air hoses not being coupled.

There goes Kevin posting prototype photos again! Really excellent photos and modeling! How did you model the air hoses and brackets on the FBOX? Yours look really good, that's a detail set that's really needed. I could use many! Todd Thanks Todd. All three of these cars (and all my plate F's) have the same setup for the air hoses and brackets. Most of the plate F cars have extended shank lower shelf E couplers, with a bracket to hold the air hose under the coupler. I loosely mimicked that by using Sergent extended length lower shelf E's, then fabricating a bracket from scrap brass. I save all the brass frets from detail parts I buy, then I cut those up and use them for projects like this. I'll have to get a picture of how I do it and post it. But basically I use the brass and bend it so I can glue it to the underside of the coupler pocket, then have it come out to underneath the coupler, bend back underneath, then hold the air hose. The air hose is just scrap wire from the cheap Athearn bulbs. I tear all those out of any Athearn locomotives I get and replace them with LED's. The bulb wire happens to be close to the right size, and will hold it's shape once bent. I glue one end to an air pipe next to the coupler pocket, wrap it around, and bend the brass bracket around it to hold it in place. I then glue a scrap gladhand to the end of the wire. Here's a picture that shows it a bit more of what I'm talking about. I'll get a better picture from underneath hopefully soon.
