Happy weekend all. This week, a former Rock Island 4427 that time and the UP paint department hasn't been too nice to. Started with a factory painted P2K model and attacked it with paint and decals cobbled together from a few different Microscale sets. I might go back over the Rock Island lettering with a lighter gray in a few days so it matches the photographs I found of the prototype. Timothy

First up is a project raised from the dead. Around 2004-2007, couple friends worked on a possible Pennsylvania G32 gondola resin kit. I think only two casts were done before it was realized that the car was too wide and that a new master for the floor would be needed. This issue along with possible copyright issues (the ends were modified DA parts which at that time were hard to find) led to the shelving of the project. One of the friends and I each built an example, but mine spent the next decade boxed up - unfinished, partially painted, and without decals. Besides the width issue, I never got much farther with mine because none of them escaped rebuilding by the PRR before the PC merger and sourcing the correct lettering involved a lot of patience. James Bilbrey, on Flickr This last week and wanting another PRR freight car, I decided to resurrect the gon. Since this was going be a "layout quality" car at best, I just sprayed it with Tamiya red oxide primer before applying a gloss coat. Decaling the car was "fun" as there are no decals available for the G32 gons. I think I used one Westerfield set, some leftovers from couple F&C kits, and two or three Champ sets to letter it. Next up is a Bowser N5C Cabin Car. Fortunately, my son's and my Pennsy locomotives were both assigned to the Northern Division. Unfortunately, the only N5C that I could find a photo of was equipped with the Trainphone antennas. I used the MR plans to model nearly all of the brake rigging underneath the carbody. All of the grabs were scraped off and new wire grabs bent. After a coat of Tamiya primer, I used a mix of Vallejo paints to paint the car. Decals came from Microscale. James Bilbrey, on Flickr

Managed to finish up a couple of cars this week! Athearn 2970CF ACF Covered Hopper used mainly for cement and sand service. Car was painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Next is an Atlas ACF 60' SD Precesion Design Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Silver Paints, then lettered with Oddballs Decals. Car was mainly used in the Autoparts service, mainly with GM and Chrysler as Ford preferred the plug door boxcars. Picture of my Bowser GMDD SD40-2's with a string of the Canadian Wheat Board Covered Hoppers, have a couple of more of these cars to finish up, with more to do as I have a lot of decals for these cars. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
