Good weekend, all. Figured the new guy would start off the thread this week. Above is an old Front Range shell on an Athearn chassis painted for Railink. It's the companion locomotive to the SW1200RS that I showed a few weeks ago. They spent what was left of their useful lives together switching in Hamilton, Ontario. The Railink logo on the side is a little small for the unit, so I'll probably print my own decal once I get some ink for my printer.
This one is a heavily modified Rail Power Products 8-40CW. The original cab was terrible looking, so it was tossed and replaced with a slightly modified Atlas cab. I used a Detail Associates 9-44CW grille kit to replace the terrible grilles already on the model. Still needs to have details added (like the sideframes...), and there's a few areas to touch up with some paint. Show 'em if you got 'em. Your work inspires me to do better stuff, so keep it coming. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Timothy Dineen

Fun with tank cars...… I built this sometime in the '90's, it was one of the first cars I weathered using artist' oils, I recently upgraded it with new stainless walkways and ladders from Plano. This is an old Alco Models car, I've rebuilt the bolsters and used Plano parts for the walkway, the end ladders are done with Tichy grabs and styrene stock. Lots of Lipstick on this Broadway Pig. I rebuilt some of the railing of the lower part of the car and made better cut bars, it's shame Broadway didn't do better on this car, while I'm glad they produced it, their attention to quality does leave a lot to be desired.....Anywho, it's been weathered with some Abteilung 502 oils, MIG Track Rust and a little AK Chalk in an attempt to spruce it up a bit. Have a good Sunday gentlemen! Mark Hills

Have a couple of weeks work done in this posting. First is a IMWX 40' 1937 AAR Boxcar Kit, substitued metal sill steps from Yarmouth Model Works for the plastic ones and a Viking Roof from Des Plaines Hobbies, car was painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and letter with Speedwitch Media Decals. The orginal car was delivered in 1936 with black ends and roof, but this is a late 40's repaint in all boxcar red and the C&O for Progress herald added, car was in general service. Finished the 6th Canada Wheat Board 4550CF Covered Hopper kit with a Plano Roofwalk added in place of the plastic roofwalk (what a difference). Car was painted with a 75%-25% of Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow-Boxcar Red and then Black Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Cars were purchased by the Gov't of Canada and not the railroads due to the 1870's Crows Nest Agreement could not charge enough to justify purchasing new cars to get rid of the ancient 40' box cars then in grain service. Kadee 50' PS1 with Cushion Underframe kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was in general service on the SCL. the 8th Canadian Grain Covered Hopper from an IMRC kit that I have done, replaced the roofwalk with a Plano kit on this car also. Car was painted with a mixture of Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and Boxcar Red, Black Paints and lettered with Herald King Decals. Since I have done a couple of Canadian Wheat Board Cars, I thought I would show my Bowser GMDD SD40-2's with a few of these cars. I saw whole strings of these cars when I visited Calgary in 1979 for the NMRA Convention. Picture of my Athearn GP38-2's with a coil steel train on the Strongsville club layout. Thanks for looking! Airbrushed a few in-process projects and did some area prep for a town. Other than that, just ran a few trains - here is the wayfreight heading to Peosta, IA.

Indeed, tank cars rule! And there is a lot of nice stuff to fill out the tank trains. And nice places for them to roam. Good model building this week. I'm kinda in the same place as onequiknova; I stalled out over the summer with a bit of a modeling problem because of quivering hands. Old age is really fun - I'll happily trade with youse young folks! Nevertheless, this past week I came up with a workaround for that issue and am back on track with a Gunderson SF Econo-Stack. Well, until the next hand-versus-bitsy-part issue! Tell me again why I'm a prototype modeler? (Yep. Gotta tweak those BLMA grabs - scale size is nice, but soft 0.008 wire isn't!) Last Week This week

I had one of those kits but sold it when IMRC offered the RTR version of the Sealand, which ran over the D&RGW. I didn't have any provision for a paint booth for painting the models. I hope to remedy that in the next couple years.

Terrific work one and all! Great inspiration for all of us that still like to model, not just open up boxes.

Really nice job on the Chevelle! Wow.
It does seem there are mostly muscle or sports cars available in HO when you look at commercially made. We sure could use more domestic 70's cars for those open auto racks.

I have one of these to build (in Conrail instead of Santa Fe). I hope you will post your progress on this model so I'll have some motivation to get started. Christopher Slemp of Milepost 15 has done a super job with the kit plus the various Plano add-ons as well as the A-Line add-on parts. milepost15.com/2015/02/13/gunderson-twin-stack-progress/Since the A-Line add-on parts are wire, styrene rod, and chain I'm using stuff from my own pile and going with closer to scale sizes. Slemp modified the Exactrail trucks he used, but that mod is beyond my comfort level. At the bottom of this page is a finished and weathered car end which shows what the trucks mods do for the model. milepost15.com/2019/02/07/arrowhead-models-semi-scale-wheelsets/#more-2646I'm still hemming and hawing over the trucks because the connections between cars should be part of the model. I used Tangent 70 ton and 100 ton trucks because they look more like what I see in the photos. Other than those comments I'm closely following the Slemp photos as well as photos of the prototype. Once you study the instructions supplied in the kit you'll know how vital these Slemp photos will be. Yeah, the kit is from 1990 and I guess the instructions are due some slack, but templates that are included are to scale, but hand-drawn and not particularly accurate. I've done a lot of plot the hole, drill the hole, MEK the part, slice the part off, fill the hole, try a different plot, drill again, MEK again. Repeat as necessary. I really am having fun with the kit despite my crits.
