Last week I got plastered. This week starting to get stoned. Coloration starting to look like the St. Peter sandstone of the Mississippi River bluff. Tim VanMersbergen

Only got one thing done this week! Atlas RS-1, in order to do the M&StL RS-1 a number of modification have to be done. Since the Louie installed their steam era bells on the hood tops as the frame mounted bells froze up in the winter, the walkway over the top radiator vent has to be moved to the side. After removing the walkway, you will find the venting has a dip in it so the entire vent area is filed away, the walkway moved to the engineers side and a new vent area is scratchbuilt. Also installed steam era markers on the long hood. Changed to vent on top of the cab to match the ones the Louie had. Painted the unit with Floquil Signal Red and decaled it with the later Shroeder era decals I got from Mark Vaughn (now available from Clark Probst). The Louie originally received their RS-1's in small batches and every delivery had a different paint scheme (some said picked by the office staff). After Sprauge was kicked out in 1954 they Louie standardized the paint scheme into the Red & White scheme as this unit. I received three Rapido RS-11's in PRR, a really good looking unit, ran them for a couple of hours on the club layout this weekend with no problems. Since were doing Rapido, here is my pair of FA-2's. waiting for the FB-2's to be delivered in the spring. This was shot on the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

I was looking over my photos from the last year when I was uploading the "last model of the year" flatcar photos the other day. I actually got a lot done this past year, from carbon black cars to coil cars to cabooses and coal hoppers. But I have to say my favorite model from last year isn't even a railroad model. It's this tractor trailer combo: I'd like to get a few more of these trailers printed. They're expensive but fun projects.

Mark, I wonder if that 2nd BN box car (PC&F) existed with the 2 panel stencil? I have one of those too but wasn't paying attention to the stencils when I bought it. Is the 3rd BN a Details West?

Jim, I'll end up decailing an older two panel one over the top of it, won't take five minutes including the time for the gloss coat to dry. The 3rd car is a Details West/Athearn car that I got as a gift.

You'll have to forgive my weak submission this week, I was pretty busy and only managed to finish a small few detail pieces.

It seems Atlas and Athearn of offered models that should have had earlier stencils.

Ted that is a pretty impressive layout. The SP power looks great!
I have the Burger King restaurant model, but have not built it yet.

That is a great looking layout, I’m sure it’s fun to operate. I have the Burger King restaurant model, but have not built it yet. Get at it Jim, one of those click bait sites I read says BK is dying....a fact borne out around here as there are quite a few “dead” BKs sitting around in the weeds in Michigan

Have looked for a HO scale model to build the rig I had back then. Where on Shapeways is it ? Mine was a frame version with full fenders. --- Ken

Very nice Fruehauf Tub !!! I had a 34' back in then late 70's. Have looked for a HO scale model to build the rig I had back then. Where on Shapeways is it ? Mine was a frame version with full fenders. --- Ken Thanks! I haven't enabled them for sale because I still have to make some revisions to the CAD file. The extended ram shipped so warped there was no way I could straighten it to pose the model in the dumping position, so I'll have to design a framework around the ram to keep it straight. The landing gear also warped, so I think I'll add some bracing the modeler can remove. Or I'll just have to separate it from the model and make it an add-on part. All the other parts printed fine. I did three versions with the only variation being the wheels: 2-hole steel, 5-hole steel and 10-hole aluminum.
